The Progression…
I haven’t been tattooing for long, but I am so proud of how far I’ve come! This is still a work in progress… we still have several sessions of #inktherapy to get through before this sleeve is finished - someone keeps changing his mind on the filler and placement of things… but it’s on his body and I want him to love it, so I tolerate it.
Tattoos have become a powerful form of self-expression, allowing individuals to showcase their personality, stories, and passions on their skin. As tattoo trends evolve, many artists and clients face the challenge of keeping up with new styles and designs. When it comes to tattooing, especially with intricate sleeve designs, communication between the artist and the client is vital. It is not uncommon for clients to change their minds on various aspects of the tattoo, such as placement or theme. Collaboratively working through designs can lead to a more meaningful and personalized tattoo experience. In recent years, certain tattoo styles have gained immense popularity, including skull tattoos and ones that incorporate elements reflective of music therapy—an artistic movement intertwining art and mental wellness. These tattoos often serve as reminders of resilience and healing, resonating with those who advocate for mental health awareness. Incorporating these themes into a tattoo sleeve not only creates a cohesive design but also encapsulates the client's emotional journey. Moreover, for those who feel that traditional tattoo styles do not resonate with them, exploring diverse avenues, such as tattoos that embrace 'baddie' aesthetics, can lead to unique personal expressions. As artists, it is crucial to support the client's vision while guiding them throughout the tattooing process. By doing so, the artists ensure that each piece is not just a design, but a genuine reflection of the individual wearing it.
