Sooo, the last (& only 🙃) time I ran a 1/2 Marathon was during COVID. It was an *incredible* feeling & definitely something I’m chasing again (literally 🏃🏼♀️)!
6 years later…we’re starting from scratch as running hasn’t been a consistent form of exercise in my life. I’m usually running around my classroom these days 👩🏼🏫!
But I’m here, determined, willing & averagely able to finish another race, the Air-Force 1/2 Marathon in Dayton, OH on Sept. 18th, 2026 ✈️ 🏅
& how exactly do I plan on getting started? I sat in bed and googled some stuff ✨ which gave me the idea- why don’t I just make my phone do this for me? I found a few example prompts from lemon8 & told ChatGPT that I want to:
✨ run 3 times a week, my time frame, and plans to work out later in the week
Then I got a little extra 😅 and told Chat to make it cute for me 💅
So stay tuned, because your girl is here to get some miles under her Hokas and feel strong again. Just wait and see 😉
... Read moreTraining for a half marathon, especially after a long break, can feel intimidating, but incorporating technology like ChatGPT into your routine can make the journey more manageable and motivating. I found that using AI to create a running plan tailored to my schedule — running three times a week with gradual mileage progression — kept me accountable and consistent.
One useful approach for beginners or those restarting is to build the habit with easy runs, gradually increasing distance. For example, starting with 1-2 miles and adding length each week reduces injury risk and improves endurance safely. The OCR training plan image from the article guides runners through a 10-12 week buildup: alternating easy paced runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays with longer weekend runs helps balance recovery and progress.
Having ChatGPT 'make the plan cute' or personalized adds an encouraging touch that turns training from a chore into something enjoyable. Adding motivating messages or fun reminders to your schedule can boost morale on days when motivation wanes.
If you’re juggling a busy life — like being a teacher running around a classroom — this adaptive, flexible planning is key. You can input your available days and get a plan that fits your lifestyle, making it easier to stick with in the long run.
Ultimately, running a half marathon is as much a mental challenge as a physical one. Using AI coaching tools helps me stay on track, feel supported, and focus on enjoying the process, not just the race day. If you’re thinking about training for a half marathon, consider trying this blend of personalized AI planning with consistent, realistic running goals. Your future self crossing the finish line will thank you!
