I got an STD — here’s what I did:
I thought my life was over & I was broken …
WHICH IS 100% NOT TRUE
its been 6 years since this happened and I can say I’ve lived a beautiful, amazing life since then ❤️
Has it been hard? Yes. Was it traumatic? Yes.
But I’ve learned to pick myself up in my darkest times & truly learn to love myself.
I hope anyone who goes through something similar knows they are not alone & everything WILL BE OKAY 🫶🏻
hope this helps xx

When I first received my STD diagnosis, specifically realizing it was herpes, my world felt like it had shattered. The initial shock and fear were overwhelming. But over time, I've learned that it's absolutely possible to not only cope but thrive. If you're going through something similar, remember, you're not alone, and there's so much hope. One of the first, and most crucial, steps I took was to truly understand my diagnosis. After that initial doctor visit, where I got my diagnosis of herpes, I made sure to ask every question I had about the virus. Understanding the symptoms, what triggers constant breakouts for me, and the importance of prescribed medication has been key. Don't hesitate to seek a second opinion if you need to, or explore different treatment options with your healthcare provider. Knowledge truly is power when it comes to managing your health. Beyond the physical management, the emotional journey is profound. I remember feeling so much shame and isolation. That's where building self-love became paramount. It wasn't easy; there were days I felt completely broken. But I started focusing on self-care, journaling, and talking to trusted friends. Realizing that an STD doesn't define my worth was a huge turning point. It's a health condition, not a moral failing. Navigating relationships after a herpes diagnosis can feel incredibly daunting. The thought of disclosure can bring on so much anxiety. What I've learned is that open and honest communication is vital. It's about finding partners who understand and respect you. I educated myself and my partners on safe sex practices and the importance of regular STI testing for both of us. While it can be scary, the right person will see beyond the diagnosis and value you for who you are. The relationship importance shifted from superficial connections to deeper, more understanding bonds. Living with herpes means accepting it as part of your health journey. It doesn't mean your life is over. I've found strength in connecting with online communities and support groups where people share similar experiences. Hearing others' stories, how they've managed constant breakouts, and built fulfilling lives, provided immense comfort and practical advice. This sense of acceptance has allowed me to embrace vulnerability and live authentically. Remember, your journey is personal, but the underlying message is universal: you are resilient, capable of finding self-love, and deserving of a beautiful life. Getting an STD diagnosis is tough, but it can also be an incredible catalyst for personal growth and prioritizing your well-being. Keep learning, keep loving yourself, and know that everything truly will be okay.

Thank you for being so vulnerable with us! I also have herpes and for a long time thought I would not find love or have kids. Oddly enough, herpes is the reason why my husband and I met (dating site called positivesingles.com)! He is an angel on earth and now we’re trying to get pregnant!
