What music app do you use for free?

🌷I am currently using Musi but I know that it’s not available on the App Store anymore and once I get a new phone I know I won’t be able to use it anymore but I refuse to use Apple or Spotify because why should I pay to listen to music, I think that’s dumb. So let me know what you use for free!

... Read moreIt's totally understandable to be on the hunt for great free music apps! I mean, who doesn't love free tunes, especially when popular services start feeling a bit pricey? I totally relate to your situation with Musi disappearing; it's frustrating when your go-to app vanishes. Finding solid alternatives to Apple Music and Spotify that don't cost a dime can feel like a real treasure hunt, but trust me, there are some gems out there if you know where to look! One of the first places many people turn to for free music is YouTube Music (Free Tier). While it has a premium paid version, the free tier lets you listen to practically anything on YouTube, which means an endless library of official songs, covers, live performances, and even podcasts. The main catch? You'll encounter ads, and you can't play music in the background on mobile devices without a premium subscription. However, if you're listening while actively using your phone or on a desktop, it’s a fantastic option. I personally use it a lot when I'm at home cleaning or just browsing; the variety is unmatched! Another popular choice for discovering new artists and listening to a vast library without a subscription is SoundCloud. It's renowned for being a platform where independent artists and emerging talents upload their music. You can find everything from electronic beats to indie pop, often before it hits mainstream platforms. While it also has a paid tier, the free version offers extensive streaming capabilities and allows you to create playlists. It's my go-to when I want to explore something fresh and unique, and it often feels like you're getting an exclusive listen. Then there's Pandora (Free Ad-Supported). Pandora focuses more on personalized radio stations. You pick an artist or song, and it creates a station based on that choice, playing similar music. It's brilliant for discovering new artists within genres you already love, without the pressure of building playlists from scratch. The free version does have ads and skips are limited, but for passive listening while working or relaxing, it's a solid contender. It feels like having my own personal DJ curating tunes just for me! For those who don't mind a bit of a workaround, local radio apps or even just your device's built-in radio functionality can be a lifesaver. Many local radio stations now have free apps that stream their broadcasts, giving you access to music, news, and talk shows without any cost. It might not be on-demand, but it's a classic way to enjoy music for free. I've also heard about apps like TIDAL (Free Tier) in some regions, which offers ad-supported listening with limited features, focusing on high-fidelity audio. It's not as widely available as the others for its free tier, but it's worth checking if it's an option in your area. Ultimately, while the convenience of ad-free, offline listening from paid services is great, there are definitely viable and enjoyable free music apps out there. It just requires a bit of exploring and figuring out what features are most important to you. What music app do you use for free that you swear by? I'm always looking for new recommendations!
