this is my citalopram

I have to take citalopram for depression it was at 20 mg and then I had to up it because I was still depressed. So now it is up to 40mg and I don't feel depressed anymore but I might be anxious.

2025/9/6 Edited to

... Read moreCitalopram is a widely prescribed selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) used to treat depression by balancing serotonin levels in the brain. It's common for doctors to start patients on 20mg and adjust doses depending on individual response and symptom relief. Increasing the dosage to 40mg, as in this experience, can effectively alleviate depressive symptoms but may sometimes trigger new side effects like anxiety. If you find that depression improves but anxiety arises, it's important to communicate this with your healthcare provider. Anxiety can be a side effect of citalopram since altering neurotransmitter levels affects emotional regulation. Monitoring symptoms carefully helps determine whether a dosage adjustment, additional therapy, or complementary treatments like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) may be beneficial. Prescription details, such as the Walmart Pharmacy label indicating a 40mg tablet and a 90-day supply, suggest a long-term treatment plan, emphasizing consistent medication adherence. Never alter dosage on your own, as significant changes should be medically supervised to avoid withdrawal or adverse effects. Additionally, lifestyle changes including regular exercise, balanced diet, and stress management techniques can support medication effectiveness. Engaging with support groups or counseling offers emotional backing through recovery. Remember, recovery experiences vary widely. While some may feel rapid relief at 40mg citalopram, others might need more time or alternative treatments. Stay patient and work closely with your medical team to find the best path forward.

I take it too. 40mg. I also have .25mg Xanax for when I’m feeling extra anxious. It’s ok. Nothing to be ashamed of. Hugs 🤗
