Chinese Crown House Museum, Chinese Crown Community District

If you want to know the "Chinese Crown" more than just a photo walk, visit the Chinese Crown Museum first. This is a small museum that tells the story of the Thai-Portuguese community, which has a long history since Sri Ayutthaya. It displays history, lifestyle, beliefs, religion, language, food and belongings of the past, giving us a better understanding of the charm of this community.

The building is beautiful, a wooden house that combines Thai and Portuguese architecture, and the atmosphere is as warm as visiting the homes of the community, rather than a typical museum walk.

The other thing I like is that there are cafes and souvenir shops. The day we went there was a sale of "Sappha," an ancient snack food of the Portuguese-influenced Chinese crown community made of finely chopped meat, such as chicken or pork, sauteed with spices and potatoes. It tastes sweet and salty and has a good smell of turmeric. Anyone who meets it is recommended to try it.

The alley next to the museum will be a "Chinese Guava" shop. The community's famous dessert resembles an egg dessert, but the dough meat is crumbly and a little crisper. The sweet is fitting. The top is decorated with raisins and dried fruit. It originates from Bolo Rei, a traditional Portuguese Christmas cake that has been converted to become a Chinese Khun Khun community dessert today.

📍 Travel

The entrance to the museum may be a little confusing because you have to walk into a small alley, but if anyone stops by, Sang Ta Kru Church recommends walking into the alley behind the church next to the river. There is an alley with a Chinese guava shop. Walk in a little more to the museum.

💸 Admission is free.

🕘 Open Tuesday-Sunday from 9: 30 to 6: 00 p.m. (closed Monday)

It's another perfect place to spend time slowly, learning history, tasting vernacular snacks, and touching the charms of the old community along the Chao Phraya River. Who's looking for a place to visit Bangkok like a beautiful knowledge and photo? Recommended here. ✨
