#funny but true
I’ve often noticed that people who haven’t traveled much tend to have a limited view of the world and sometimes of themselves as well. The phrase, “Don’t let a man with NO PASSPORT tell you that you’re the most beautiful girl in the world,” reflects a deeper idea—that true appreciation often comes from a broader perspective. Traveling exposes people to diverse cultures, styles, and standards of beauty, which can widen their understanding and appreciation of uniqueness. When someone has never left their hometown or country, their frame of reference is narrow, making their judgments less informed or nuanced. From my own experiences, I’ve found that meeting people from different places—especially those who have traveled extensively—often brings fresh insights and an appreciation for qualities beyond surface-level appearances. They tend to value traits like confidence, kindness, and individuality more deeply because they have seen how these traits manifest across various cultures. So, while a compliment from anyone should be taken in good spirit, it’s also healthy to be aware of the background and experiences of the person giving that compliment. Whether it’s about beauty or any personal attribute, context matters. In a world filled with so much diversity, we all gain from expanding our horizons—literally and figuratively. Whether through travel, reading, or conversations with diverse individuals, broadening your perspective helps you recognize and celebrate true beauty, both in yourself and others.
