I have eyes… yet I missed seeing this.

We all have different love languages.

Last night, I went to bed focusing on the one thing my wife wasn’t giving me. This morning, God reminded me of the countless ways she loves me every single day.

It led me to a deeper realization…

How often do we do the same thing with God?

We focus on the one prayer that hasn’t been answered yet while overlooking the hundreds He already has.

Your health.

Your family.

Your protection.

Your provision.

The doors He opened.

The dangers He kept you from seeing.

Sometimes the problem isn’t that God isn’t answering prayers.

It’s that we’re only looking for the answer we wanted instead of recognizing the answers He’s already given.

Gratitude changes perspective.

Take a moment today and thank Him for what you’ve been overlooking.

... Read moreThis reflection on gratitude really resonated with me and reminded me of times I, too, have been blind to the blessings in my life. There have been moments when I was so fixated on what I had yet to receive—be it career growth, healing, or change in circumstances—that I overlooked the many ways grace was already evident. Just like the example in the devotional, sometimes we expect a specific answer or timing from God and fail to notice the subtle but profound ways He provides for us daily. One real-life experience that helped me realign was when I faced professional setbacks. I was anxious and kept praying for a particular opportunity without seeing progress. However, when I took a moment to reflect and practice gratitude, I realized I had solid support from friends and family, good health, and unexpected small wins that kept me going. This increased my faith and shifted my perspective from scarcity to abundance. It’s eye-opening how gratitude changes not only our perspective of God’s work but also improves our mental and emotional well-being. The devotional’s mention of different love languages—such as the quiet, consistent care from the wife and the expectation for enthusiastic celebration—really illustrates how we might misunderstand or miss love if we only look for it in ways familiar to us. Applying this to faith, we need to appreciate both evident miracles and the quiet, daily provisions God gives us. When we focus too much on what seems unanswered, we risk missing the ‘dozens of water bottles in the fridge’—the small acts of love and care that sustain us. If you are feeling frustrated with unanswered prayers, try shifting your mindset toward gratitude. Write down at least three blessings you often overlook, be it your health, family’s safety, or opportunities for growth. Share these reflections with a community or in a journal. This practice helps reinforce trust in God’s timing and fosters a deeper, more grateful relationship with the divine. In the end, it's about opening our spiritual eyes to the many ways love and grace are shown, often in unexpected forms. Embracing this truth invites both peace and renewed faith, allowing us to rise above disappointment and appreciate the miracle of everyday blessings.
