I Now Wake Up Buttonless
I used to think people were pushing my buttons. Then I realized something: the only reason someone can push your buttons is because you have them.
Many of our frustrations don’t come from what others did. They come from expectations we placed on them without ever communicating them. Expectations they didn’t even know existed.
Today I choose to wake up differently.
Not needing.
Not demanding.
Not expecting.
Just loving.
The moment we stop keeping score and start serving, relationships become lighter, healthier, and far more beautiful.
Love freely. Expect less. Appreciate more.
#DailyDevotional
In my own journey toward healthier relationships, I found that the moment I stopped expecting things from others was a turning point. Just like the idea of 'waking up buttonless,' releasing those invisible triggers—expectations we silently hold—can bring real peace and freedom. It was hard at first because we’re conditioned to want others to meet our needs or behave in certain ways, but this mindset often leads to frustration. An important step for me was reflecting on where my feelings originated. Were they truly caused by others, or by my own assumptions and unmet expectations? When I realized it was mostly the latter, I began to realign my focus, much like the advice to "No-Expectations Reflect. Realign. Rise." I started communicating more openly, not to demand change but to share my feelings honestly. Choosing to love without strings or demands doesn’t mean we become passive. Instead, it invites us to serve and appreciate unconditionally. Relationships became lighter and more genuine as I stopped keeping score and focused on loving freely. This shift also deepened my personal growth—highlighting the power of self-awareness and empathy. If you’re struggling with feeling pushed around in your relationships, I encourage you to try this approach. Reflect on your expectations and consider what would happen if you let go of needing others to behave a certain way. Realign your mindset with love and appreciation, and see how it changes your interactions. It’s a daily practice, but waking up without buttons can truly transform your life and those around you.
