June reads 📚📚

These are the books I read last month! I had to admit that this is measly for me. I’ve been so busy with school that I haven’t had much time to pick up extra books. I’m hoping to get back to it soon!

📖Demon Coppherhead was a great read and honestly better than expected. I liked the entire plot and also thought all of the characters had great development. I would really recommend this one! I would give this book a 4.5/5!!!

📖Mexican Gothic was good but I didn’t like the last half of the book. I can see why people like it so much, but I thought it got kind of corny. Although the book did have a Daphne Du Maurier vibe going on, which was much appreciated. i would give this a 3/5.

Overall, I enjoyed both books I read in June and am looking forward to reading more this month!! Let me know what you guys think of these books or if you want suggestions!

... Read moreHey bookworms! Building on my June reads, I wanted to dive a bit deeper into some aspects that many of you might be curious about, especially if you're looking to pick up these titles. It's not just about the story, but the whole experience! First up, for those who love to listen, let's talk about the 'Mexican Gothic' audiobook. While I read the physical copy, I've heard fantastic things about the narration. A good audiobook can truly elevate a story, and for a gothic novel like this, the right voice can really set the atmosphere. I often find that listening to a book with a strong sense of place, like this one set in a remote, decaying mansion, can immerse you even more. Imagine being transported to the eerie Mexican countryside through your headphones! If you're a fan of thrillers or mysteries, an audiobook version can be perfect for commutes or chores, adding that extra layer of suspense with every creak and whisper. It's definitely on my list to re-experience it as an audiobook sometime, just to see how the vocal performances bring the characters and the unsettling environment to life. Good narration can sometimes even smooth over parts of a story that might feel a bit slow in print, keeping you engaged till the very end. Now, let's switch gears to 'Demon Copperhead.' You know, sometimes a book cover just speaks to you, and the one for 'Demon Copperhead' is incredibly striking. The image on the cover, often featuring a raw, almost gritty aesthetic, perfectly captures the spirit of the story. It immediately signals that this isn't a light read, but something profound and deeply moving. It hints at the Appalachian setting and the resilience of its characters. I often find myself drawn to books with strong cover art because it gives you a sneak peek into the author's vision and the tone of the narrative. It’s like the 'graphic featuring the word "June" at the top, with two book covers below' in my post – the visuals are key! A well-designed cover, like this one by Barbara Kingsolver, doesn't just attract attention; it tells a story before you even open the first page. It's a visual promise of the journey you're about to embark on, and in this case, it certainly delivers on that promise of a powerful, unforgettable tale. Thinking about 'June reads' specifically, I found 'Demon Copperhead' to be a surprisingly perfect fit. Despite its length and depth, it was the kind of immersive story that pulled me in completely, making me forget the chaos of my busy school schedule. For me, June often signifies a shift towards more intense, thought-provoking reads as the academic year winds down or summer begins, offering a chance to truly get lost in a narrative. 'Mexican Gothic,' with its atmospheric chills, also offered a delightful contrast – a perfect escape for a warm evening. It reminds me that even when life gets hectic, carving out time for books like these, whether in print or as an audiobook, is so important. If you're struggling to find time, maybe consider reading shorter chapters, or dedicating just 15-20 minutes a day. Sometimes, just having a captivating story like 'Demon Copperhead' or 'Mexican Gothic' waiting for you can be the motivation you need to make reading a priority again. It's all about finding what works for your schedule and what kind of story resonates with your mood that month!
