"Reverend Father Soothon"
The Buddha Sodhra (also known as "the King of Sodhon") is a sacred Buddha, a long-standing village of Chao Chao. It has a history and legend:
🏛️ Origin & History
• The Buddha Sodhra was built in the early Sri Ayutthaya period, about 2300-2400, or during the reign of His Majesty the King II, cast from sandstone, seated with a concentration pang on a four-story base with 10 other Buddhas.
• But the legend says that the creator did not appear to have lived long with the ancient way.
🌊. Floating for three brothers.
• According to legend, there are three Buddhas and brothers floating along the Bang Pagong River.
• Big Brother went down the slope at the Cape House → became the "Reverend of the Cape House."
• The small one floats to some large ones → becomes "the great father of the temple of Bang Pli."
• The middleman floated to stop in front of the Swan Temple (later Sodhra Temple). The villagers successfully pulled it up and enshrined it to become Sodhra Buddha.
🗓️ History & Belief
• Although the creator is unidentified, the antiquity of the Buddha is attested to by early Ayutthaya art, and many restorations have allowed it to remain high, with a base for 10 clairvoyants and attendants.
• It is believed to have divine powers to protect, eliminate harm, and give fortune to believers.
🎉 Importance in the community
• The Buddha Sodhra is widely worshiped in the province of Chachothra (eight streaks).
• There is a large symmetry parade every year on occasions such as Vesak, Buddha's birthday.
• It is believed that a major parade may have been held over 200 years.
🕯️ Primary way of worship
• Devotees often bow down, light incense, make holy water, worship flowers with their hearts.
• A popular wish to "dispel obstacles and make a good fortune."
หลวงพ่อโสธรไม่ได้เป็นเพียงพระพุทธรูปที่ได้รับการเคารพบูชาในจังหวัดฉะเชิงเทราเท่านั้น แต่ยังเป็นสัญลักษณ์ทางศาสนาและวัฒนธรรมที่สำคัญของชาวไทยที่มีความเชื่อในพลังศักดิ์สิทธิ์ที่ช่วยปัดเป่าเคราะห์ร้ายและดลบันดาลโชคลาภให้กับผู้ศรัทธา หลวงพ่อโสธรถูกสร้างในสมัยกรุงศรีอยุธยาตอนต้น โดยประติมากรรมปางสมาธิของหลวงพ่อหล่อจากหินทรายและมีฐาน 4 ชั้นพร้อมพระพุทธรูปบริวารอีก 10 องค์ นับเป็นผลงานศิลปะที่สะท้อนถึงความงดงามและความเก่าแก่ของศิลปะอยุธยา ตำนานว่าด้วยการลอยน้ำมา 3 พี่น้องบนแม่น้ำบางปะกงนั้น เป็นอีกหนึ่งเรื่องเล่าที่สร้างความศรัทธาและความผูกพันของชุมชนกับพระพุทธรูปแต่ละองค์ องค์กลางที่ลอยมาติดที่หน้าวัดหงส์ ซึ่งปัจจุบันคือวัดโสธร ถูกชาวบ้านช่วยกันดึงขึ้นและตั้งเป็นที่ประดิษฐาน ทำให้หลวงพ่อโสธรกลายเป็นศูนย์รวมจิตใจของชาวฉะเชิงเทราอย่างแท้จริง นอกจากนี้ยังมีพิธีแห่สมโภชพระพุทธโสธรที่จัดขึ้นเป็นประจำทุกปีในโอกาสต่างๆ เช่น วันวิสาขบูชา และวันประสูติพระพุทธเจ้า ซึ่งถือเป็นประเพณีที่สืบทอดมายาวนานกว่า 200 ปี งานนี้ไม่เพียงแต่เป็นการแสดงออกถึงความเคารพนับถือ แต่ยังเป็นการรวมตัวของชาวบ้านและนักท่องเที่ยวที่มาร่วมชมความงามและรับรู้ถึงคุณค่าทางจิตใจ สำหรับผู้ที่ต้องการนมัสการหลวงพ่อโสธร ก็มักจะปฏิบัติด้วยการกราบไหว้ จุดธูป ทำน้ำมนต์ และบูชาดอกไม้ ถือเป็นวิธีการสื่อสารทางใจที่เน้นความบริสุทธิ์และตั้งใจ นอกจากนี้ยังนิยมขอพรเพื่อปัดเป่าเคราะห์และขอโชคลาภ ช่วยเสริมสร้างความเชื่อมั่นและความหวังให้กับชีวิตประจำวันของผู้ศรัทธา การบูชาหลวงพ่อโสธรจึงไม่ได้เป็นเพียงแค่ความเชื่อส่วนบุคคลเท่านั้น แต่ยังเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของวัฒนธรรมและจิตวิญญาณท้องถิ่นที่มีความสำคัญในชุมชนฉะเชิงเทราอย่างยิ่ง
