ðĪ From "Backlog Keeper" to "Product Architect"?
ðĪ from "Backlog Keeper" to "Product Architect"?
Elevate PM / PO from operator â designer of systems that organizations actually rely on in this era?
ðĨ an age that requires AI like a co-colleague and how can PM / PO adapt so fast?
Organizations around the world have an unappointed agenda: "It takes more AI and it works." Many companies' KPIs, OKRs, and Roadmaps are being rewritten to support GenAI technology that changes all jobs uprooted.
But for PM / PO, the more brutal truth is that "the same job is swamped," and most spend hours a day on jobs that do not create business value, such as
* Continuous meetings until there is no time to think.
* Write down requirements without knowing how to start
* Write User Story repeatedly until exhausted
* Fix a backlog that never ends
* Make slides / make images / find information to prepare the present etc.
It is not surprising that the most sincere question in the conference room is, "As PO / PM, where can we insert AI?"
The answer is that AI does not replace PM, but is "returning time" for PM to do things that are worth many times higher.
According to the Microsoft Work Trend Index 2024, knowledge workers' jobs can be reduced by 30-40% if they use AI systematically. That means the PM will have more time to think and analyze and design products on an unprecedented scale.
This is why PM / PO has to go from "Backlog" to "Product Architect," or the whole system designer, ideas, strategies and product direction that the team can actually follow.

ð the dimension that AI changes PM from "operator" â "command designer"?
1) Turn "Speech" into "Image" - Instant Prototyping that is 10-20 times faster than before
One of PM's most important skills is to "sell the team the vision of the same picture," but in the real world, waiting for a UI / UX to do a Prototype can take days or weeks and unfortunately slow down good ideas.
Today, tools like
* Gamma
* Loveable
* Figma AI
* Microsoft Copilot Design
* Canva Magic Design etc.
"A complete set of screens, flows or decks can be created from just a few Prompt lines."
â What's changed?
* Leap-fast Alignment
* The team of engineers and design understood the vision match from the first minute.
* Reduce the risk of misinterpretation and repairing rework.
This is the same trend that Atlassian presented at Team "24 that AI would come to be the" thinking couple friend "of the product team from the earliest design stages.

2) Turn "note-taking" into "Insight Extraction."
Keeping requirements, doing user interviews, converting notes to insight is one of the most time-consuming tasks and risking dropping important information.
AI can now do things that humans spend hours doing within seconds, e.g.
* Comprehensive Conference Summary by Zoom AI Companion
* Pull Pain Point from multiple hours of transcript with Notion AI
* Automatically categorize requirements with Miro Assist
* Recurring patterns from customer conversations through ChatGPT and Claude, etc.
The Google Research & UX 2024 report points out that AI can help analyze messages from users more accurately by more than 30% compared to traditional human coding.
â Strategic results
* PM is not just a "notemaker," but a "semantic analyst," understanding customers in a deeper dimension, using strategic decision-making data clearly more accurately.
- -
3) Turn "Clutter" into "The System That Works for You" - Backlog & Story Generation
User Story Writings, Acceptance Criteria, Test Scenario, Dependency Analysis is "hard work but no one appreciates it" and also takes up the most time of PO.
Now GenAI can help with virtually the whole cycle.
* Crack Epic â Feature â Auto Story
* Complete all edge cases with Acceptance Criteria
* Create a preliminary Test Scenario for QA
* Summary of risks and dependencies between teams
* Rewrite Story to be concise and meet corporate standards, etc.
Atlassian also recently released an AI for Jira that also analyzed Story's quality, giving it, "Ready to go down Sprint?"
â What the PM has to do is just
* From "Sit and write everything yourself" â Just "check quality + fill business context."
* The result is a better story, clearer, faster, and the dev team works at a more immediate slip.
- -
4) Turn "Waiting" into "Botless Creation" - Asset Creation
Slide-making, photo-making, banner-making, asset-making for presenters is a story that lasts more than many people think, especially teams without regular designers.
Now tools like
* Canva AI,
* Midjourney
* DALL · E
* Adobe Firefly
* Runway etc.
Can create an image based on the organization's (CI) brand immediately, as well as create an image used in a pitch, planning or strategy session within minutes.
â results.
* PM becomes a "Productive Generalist" that creates all functions without waiting for anyone. Reduces bottlenecks. Works fluently for the whole team.
= = = =
âĻ So... AI is not just an assistant, but the "strategic force buoy" of modern PM / PO.
AI does not make PM better because of its intelligence, but because it gives back space for humans to do higher-value things:
* Stakeholder management
* Systems + Architectural Thinking
* Strategic decision-making
* Inspiring the team
* Determining long-term product direction
Because ultimately, the product is not driven by AI, but by the "common belief" of the entire human team.
Organizations that use AI just to work faster will only get "efficiency," but teams that use AI to enhance the role of people â will get the "future."
