proper posture as a hair stylist/ braid stylist
As hairstylists, we spend HOURS pouring into others — creating beauty, building confidence, and standing on our feet day after day. But one thing we don’t talk about enough is PROPER POSTURE for BOTH the stylist and the client. 💆🏽♀️✨
Poor posture can lead to: ✔ Neck strain
✔ Upper & lower back pain
✔ Wrist and hand issues
✔ Carpal tunnel
✔ Foot and leg pain from standing for long periods
Stylists: • Keep your shoulders relaxed instead of hunched
• Bring the client closer to YOU instead of bending your body to them
• Adjust your chair/station when possible
• Stretch between clients
• Wear supportive shoes
• Protect your wrists and back — your body is your livelihood
Clients: Please help support your stylist too ❤️
• Sit all the way back in the chair
• Keep your head upright when instructed
• Avoid excessive leaning, slouching, or constantly looking down at your phone
• Try not to suddenly move while your stylist is working
• Good posture helps us braid neater, faster, and with less strain on our bodies
A healthy stylist can continue serving with excellence for years to come. Protecting our bodies matters just as much as protecting your hair. ✨
Respect the crown AND the person creating it 👑
