pack with me for florida ✨🌺🌊
this took so long it isn’t even funny 😭 #packwithme #packing #florida #floridagirl #vacation #july
Packing for a Florida vacation can feel like a puzzle, especially with the state's diverse weather and endless activities! I recently tackled my own Florida packing list, and let me tell you, it's all about strategic planning to make sure you have everything you need without overstuffing your suitcase. From sunny beach days to breezy evenings, here’s my personal guide to what I found essential. First off, Florida's weather can be a bit unpredictable, even in the same season. While summer (like July!) is generally hot and humid, even spring and fall can surprise you, and winter months like January can have surprisingly cool fronts, especially in North Florida. Always check the forecast a few days before you leave! When it comes to Tops, I focused on breathable fabrics. Think lightweight cotton tanks, flowy blouses, and moisture-wicking t-shirts. For evenings or air-conditioned spaces, a light cardigan or a long-sleeved linen shirt is a lifesaver – trust me, you don't want to freeze at dinner after a day in the sun! I usually pack a mix of casual options for daytime adventures and a couple of nicer tops for going out. For Pants and other bottoms, shorts are an absolute must. Denim shorts, linen shorts, and athletic shorts all have their place. I also love packing a versatile pair of linen pants or a maxi skirt; they’re perfect for both covering up at the beach and dressing up for a casual dinner. Lightweight dresses are also fantastic for easy, breezy outfits. Pajamas should be light and comfortable. Florida nights can still be warm, so silk, cotton, or modal sets are ideal to keep you cool. I always throw in an extra pair just in case. Now, for the 'Other' essentials that often get overlooked but are crucial for a great trip: Swimwear: At least two swimsuits so one can dry while you wear the other. Don't forget a stylish cover-up! Footwear: Comfortable sandals or flip-flops for the beach/pool, walking shoes for exploring theme parks or city streets, and maybe a dressier pair if you plan on nice dinners. Sun Protection: Sunscreen (high SPF!), a wide-brimmed hat, and sunglasses are non-negotiable. Toiletries: Travel-sized versions of your favorites, plus after-sun lotion. Accessories: A small crossbody bag for daily excursions, a larger tote for beach days, and maybe some fun jewelry. Tech: Phone charger, portable power bank, headphones. Hydration: A reusable water bottle is great for staying hydrated. If you're heading to Florida during specific months, a few tweaks are helpful. For January or March, particularly in North Florida, I'd definitely add a light jacket or a cozy hoodie. For April, it's usually warm and sunny, so focus on light layers. In July, it's all about staying cool and hydrated – think minimal clothing and lots of water! And for specific destinations like Miami, you might want to pack a few more fashionable items for nightlife and trendy restaurants. If you're going to a relaxed beach town like those along 30A, comfort and beachwear will be your priority. A few personal packing hacks I swear by: rolling clothes saves space and minimizes wrinkles, and packing cubes are fantastic for organizing categories like tops, pants, and pajamas. Don't forget a small bag for dirty laundry! With a little planning, you can pack efficiently and enjoy every moment of your Florida adventure.
