What I eat in a day: Whole Foods Focused

Breakfast: For breakfast I had tofu scramble on sourdough toast with a slice of cheese, and a bowl of banana and strawberries

Lunch: For lunch I had a small burger patty with cheese and bbq sauce, with a small salad and sweet potato

Mid-Day snack: A rice cake with nutella and strawberries

Dinner: whole wheat pasta with a salad on the side. (Dressing: greek yogurt with ranch seasoning)

• I like to focus on eating mainly whole foods with simple ingredients that will nourish my body, staying away from heavily processed foods. But I also focus on having a balanced diet with no restrictions:)

... Read moreHey everyone! So many of you asked for more details on my 'What I Eat In A Day' post, especially about how I stick to a whole foods focus without feeling restricted. It’s actually simpler than you might think, and it’s made a huge difference in how I feel – energized, nourished, and happy! I truly believe that embracing whole foods isn’t just a diet; it’s a lifestyle shift that brings incredible benefits, from better digestion to sustained energy throughout the day. For me, 'whole foods focused' means prioritizing ingredients that are as close to their natural state as possible. Think fresh fruits like the bananas and strawberries I enjoy for breakfast, or hearty vegetables such as the sweet potato and vibrant greens in my lunch salad. Instead of heavily processed options, I reach for things like protein-packed tofu scramble on wholesome sourdough toast, or a satisfying whole wheat pasta dinner. It's about making conscious choices that fuel my body and mind best, helping me avoid that sluggish feeling after a meal. One of the biggest misconceptions about eating healthy is that you have to give up everything you love. That's definitely not my approach! My philosophy is all about balance and enjoying food without guilt or strict restrictions. While I aim for simple, nourishing meals most of the time, I also believe in savoring treats in moderation. For instance, my mid-day snack of a rice cake with Nutella and strawberries is a perfect example of a little indulgence that fits perfectly into my day. Even choosing 'no sugar added' chocolate when I crave something sweet helps me stay on track without ever feeling deprived. It’s about finding sustainable habits, not temporary fixes. If you're looking to incorporate more whole foods into your routine, here are a few practical tips I've picked up. First, focus on quality ingredients. When I'm at the grocery store, I often check labels for minimal ingredients and recognizable names. If I'm choosing a plant-based milk, for example, I always look for unsweetened varieties with simple ingredients, avoiding added sugars or unnecessary fillers. This is where brands that prioritize naturalness and transparency really shine. Secondly, don't be afraid to experiment with cooking! Making your own burger patty from lean ground meat or whipping up a delicious Greek yogurt dressing with ranch seasoning for your salad ensures you know exactly what’s going into your food and allows you to control the quality. Another game-changer has been simple meal prep. Having ingredients like pre-chopped veggies, pre-cooked quinoa, or a batch of roasted sweet potato cubes on hand makes throwing together a quick, healthy lunch or dinner so much easier during busy weekdays. And for breakfast, a quick tofu scramble is a fantastic way to start the day with protein and fiber, keeping me full until lunch. It's about finding what works for your lifestyle and making small, sustainable changes that add up over time. Ultimately, eating a whole foods focused diet isn't about perfection; it's about progress, feeling good in your own skin, and building a positive relationship with food. I hope sharing my daily eats and my personal approach inspires you to explore more wholesome options and find what truly nourishes your body and soul! Remember, it's a journey, not a destination, so embrace the process and celebrate every healthy choice you make!
