Drawing 15-30 minutes a day
Last September I challenged myself to draw 15-30 minutes a day. I was in a big art block and felt discouraged about art. So I bought cheap mini sketchbook and decided to challenge myself to draw each day that I could.
I’m very interested in old silent films and portraits so I took that to my advantage. a lot of these are actors and people are from the 1920s :)! I used the old portraits as reference and I found that each day I drew one of these it went by faster and easier. It really dug me out of the art block grave and helped me understand my creative flow.
Things I learned:
it’s okay if you make mistakes. It’s only natural in the process of art. Sometimes I forget that and go hard on myself and seek perfectionism. I found that throughout this process I let the pencil take me wherever it went instead of me forcing each stroke to be perfect.
Adding on to that-
while doing these I made sure only my eyes saw them. I got the urge to post everything I drew and it felt like a chore rather than enjoying what I created. I made sure to post them after I knew I was done with them all.
Your sketchbook has no limits.
It’s your space to create and learn.
Mistakes are welcome. It’s a way we learn what to do next time. That blank page is scary sometimes. But I believe in you !!
