My Literary DNA: Present and Past📚🧬

I'm mostly her, diving deep into fantasy, and all the epic worlds! But then there's also the her who gets completely lost in thrilling mysteries and historical sagas. And hey, sometimes I'm even her, curled up with a heartwarming romance or a poignant contemporary read! My shelves are a wild mix, TRULY reflecting my mood-reader heart.

It's been so fun to look back at how the books I read as a child shaped who I am today. Because no matter what, I'll always be her, the kid who fell in love with magic, adventure, and spooky tales! Honestly, it was SO hard picking just a few favorites. There are so many that don't even fit these 3 main genres! Maybe I'll do another one with different genres later! 😉

My love for reading had taken me on so many fun adventures. Not just in the pages but in real life too. I have found my voice and community on social media, lemon8, and my book blog. I have found 3rd spaces like the library and books stores. I love making these type of posts to reflect on my reading journey but also as a way to introduce myself to new followers! If you're a book worm like me you've found the perfect place💕

This has been a trend with movies but I originally saw this idea with books from @csmith18 on tik tok so shoutout to her!📚

Now, I want to hear from YOU!👇

... Read moreThe concept of exploring one's "Literary DNA" is a compelling way to understand how our reading habits and favorite genres evolve over time, influenced by early experiences and shifting interests. This personal journey reveals the powerful role literature plays in shaping identity and community. Fantasy remains a cornerstone for many readers, including those who cherish epic world-building and immersive adventures filled with magic and mythical creatures. Popular fantasy authors such as Sarah J. Maas, Madeline Miller, and Rick Riordan have captivated audiences by blending contemporary storytelling with classical mythologies, as indicated by the OCR-recognized titles like "A Court of Thorns and Roses," "Circe," and "Percy Jackson." Mysteries and historical sagas offer a different form of engagement, combining suspense with a glimpse into past eras. This mix provides readers with intellectual challenges and emotional depth, which can be seen in the popularity of titles referenced such as "Where the Crawdads Sing" by Delia Owens and other thrillers noted in the OCR content. Romance and contemporary fiction often deliver heartwarming narratives that explore relationships and real-life issues, providing comfort and relatability. Modern authors like Emily Henry have redefined this genre by adding humor and freshness, making these books perfect for mood reads. The idea of mood reading—choosing books based on emotional needs—and the joy of having a diverse bookshelf resonates strongly with readers today. This eclectic approach nurtures a deeper love for literature, encouraging exploration beyond single genres and fostering a lifelong reading habit. Furthermore, the author’s experience of finding community through Lemon8, book blogs, and social media highlights the importance of so-called 'third spaces' like libraries and bookstores, which enrich the reading experience both virtually and physically. This engagement promotes not only personal growth but also collective interaction among book enthusiasts, strengthening social bonds. Incorporating hashtags such as #lemon8bookclub and #bookwormsoflemon8 underlines the growing trend of digital book communities where readers share recommendations, reviews, and discussions, amplifying the visibility of diverse titles and authors. Ultimately, understanding one’s literary past and present allows for a celebration of varied narratives and genres, encouraging others to reflect on their own reading journeys. Whether you are drawn to fantasy escapism, intricate mysteries, or heartfelt romances, embracing your unique literary DNA can deepen your connection with books and fellow readers alike.

My favorite childhood reads were Goosebumps, The Boxcar Children, The BabySitters Club and I LOVED Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. They had books that I was absolutely obsessed with 🥰 I remember walking to my library and staying there for hours! Then going home with a ton of books!
