PUBLIC Reader or HOMEbody? Let's chat๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ’ฌ

Spending the perfect bookish Sunday at the brand new location of The Leafy Lounge has me wondering...where do you prefer to dive into a book?

while I enjoy the coziness of my home one of my favorite ways to spend a day is reading a book somewhere fun. Sometimes it's under the willow tree in my backyard, bird watching on my back porch, the library or, like today, a cafe. I have posted a lot of pictures at their first location and we had a great time today at their opening of this one. We got maybe more then 1 of the pecan pie lattes๐Ÿคญ and I got broccoli cheddar soup(my fav) and he got the chili. It was the perfect fuel to help me push through the miscommunication trope going on in this book and for my fiancรฉ to start Fourth Wing.

๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ’ฌBut here's my question... where do you like to read? I have heard some people just can't read in public while others like me love it. Lets talk about. where is your favorite place to read and why? Even if it's a place in your home

... Read moreIt's a question every book lover grapples with: are you a public reader or a cozy homebody? While thereโ€™s undeniable comfort in curling up in your favorite armchair at home, sometimes the world outside just calls. For me, a bookish Sunday often means venturing out. I adore the quiet hum of a cafe, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee, and the gentle buzz of conversation that somehow enhances my focus rather than detracting from it. Places like The Leafy Lounge in Lakewood, NY, are absolute gems for this. There's something magical about finding a new spot, settling in with a good book, and letting the world melt away around you. I've found that the right public setting can significantly elevate my reading experience, turning a simple afternoon into a memorable escape. Speaking of The Leafy Lounge, their new location truly captured my heart this past weekend. It wasn't just the delightful pecan pie latte (which, let's be honest, became my 'miscommunication trope fuel' while diving into a particularly intense chapter of Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros!) or the comforting broccoli cheddar soup. It was the entire atmosphere. The place itself is a feast for the eyes, with lovely green foliage and a charming neon sign that gives it such a unique character, as seen in some of the snaps I took. Finding a cafe that understands the vibe bookworms craveโ€“good lighting, comfortable seating, and delicious treatsโ€“is like hitting the jackpot. Itโ€™s what transforms a simple reading session into a true bookish Sunday adventure. My fiancรฉ even got hooked, starting Fourth Wing right there beside me, fueled by their chili. Now, let's talk about something that often comes up in our book discussions: the miscommunication trope. Itโ€™s a common device in many novels, especially in romance and fantasy (yes, like the one I was reading!). For those unfamiliar, itโ€™s when a significant plot point or conflict arises purely because characters fail to communicate effectively with each other. It can be incredibly frustrating โ€“ you just want to shake the characters and tell them to *talk*! However, when done well, it can add layers of tension and emotional depth, making the eventual resolution all the more satisfying. Pushing through those moments where you want to scream 'just tell them!' is part of the journey, and finding the right setting (and the right pecan pie latte!) can definitely help you power through. What are your thoughts on this trope? Do you love it or hate it, and how do you navigate it in your favorite reads? Ultimately, whether you're a devout homebody reader or you thrive on the energy of public reading spots, the goal is the same: to find that perfect place where you can truly immerse yourself in a story. My bookish Sunday at The Leafy Lounge Lakewood NY was a reminder that sometimes, stepping out of your comfort zone and exploring new cafe environments can lead to unexpected literary bliss. So, I'd love to know, beyond the library or your living room, what's a surprising or unique spot where you've found yourself completely lost in a book? Share your secret reading spots!

Definitely a homebody. My favorite place to read is in bed. I can only read in public if Iโ€™m in a waiting room and even then, my anxiety is usually too high to focus on a book!
