Oc Nimai old vid
Hey everyone! I’m so excited to dive deeper into the story behind my original character, Nimai, and why creating an anime OC with vitiligo was such an important project for me. You might have seen a glimpse of her in my art, and now I want to share my journey and the inspiration behind her unique design. For a long time, I've wanted to create characters that truly stand out and represent the beauty in diversity. That's why I decided to give Nimai vitiligo. I believe art should reflect the real world, and showcasing characters with unique traits like vitiligo helps normalize differences and celebrates every kind of beauty. It feels incredibly rewarding to contribute to a more inclusive space in character design, especially within the anime community, where representation is becoming increasingly vital. Designing Nimai was a process filled with thought and careful consideration. When I started sketching, I envisioned her with a strong yet graceful presence. I decided on a height of 5'11" to give her an imposing but elegant stature. The vitiligo patterns themselves were a crucial part of her aesthetic. I spent time researching different vitiligo manifestations to ensure her markings looked natural and beautiful, not just an afterthought. I wanted them to flow with her form, enhancing her unique appearance rather than simply being a 'condition.' My goal was for her vitiligo to be an integral part of her identity, adding depth and visual interest to her overall look. Creating OCs (original characters) like Nimai holds a special place in my heart. It’s not just about drawing; it’s about storytelling and building worlds. Seeing more characters with vitiligo, or other unique characteristics, helps aspiring artists and fans alike feel seen and inspired. It encourages us all to think beyond conventional beauty standards and embrace what makes each character, and each person, truly special. This kind of polyanime approach, where we explore a multitude of styles and diverse character designs, is what keeps the art world vibrant and engaging. I truly hope Nimai resonates with you all. It’s been a really fulfilling experience to create art that celebrates unique beauty and promotes representation. What kind of diverse characters would you love to see more of in anime or art? Or do you have any OCs with unique traits you’d like to share? I’d love to hear your thoughts and connect with fellow creators!
