Indian restaurant and market!

Mom drove me to Cary for my appointment to get my birth certificate officially translated and authenticated so I can get married in Spain. Since we were up there I asked an Indian friend who worked in the triangle area what he recommended for lunch. He suggested this nice restaurant called Saffron Indian Cuisine and it was really great! They have a special for lunch that is the chefs choice and I chose the vegetarian and my mom got the goat. Altogether our lunch was under 30 before adding the tip. Afterwards we went to an amazing Indian supermarket called Patel Brothers. I bought some nice snacks, fresh paneer and naan 🫓 bread, curry and a big sack of jasmine rice. It was very impressive since they had everything under the sun it seemed! Patel Brothers Saffron Indian Cuisine #summerdiary #lemon8contest

... Read moreMy recent adventure to Saffron Indian Cuisine and Patel Brothers in Cary was truly a highlight, and it got me thinking about all the amazing Indian food experiences out there. If you're anything like me, you love discovering hidden gems that offer authentic flavors and unique ingredients. My visit confirmed that these two spots are definitely worth the trip! First, let's talk about Saffron Indian Cuisine. When I went, I opted for their chef's special vegetarian thali, and it was such a fantastic way to sample a variety of dishes. From fragrant curries to perfectly spiced lentil stews, every bite was a delight. If you're new to Indian food, I highly recommend trying a thali – it’s like a tasting menu that lets you explore different flavors without committing to one large dish. Don't be shy about asking the staff for recommendations either; they often have great insights into daily specials or popular regional dishes. I've found that the best Indian restaurants, like Saffron, always prioritize fresh ingredients and traditional cooking methods, making every meal an authentic experience. Then came the magical journey to Patel Brothers. Oh my goodness, this place is incredible! It's not just a grocery store; it's a treasure trove for anyone interested in Indian cooking or just looking for some delicious snacks. Beyond the fresh paneer and jasmine rice I picked up, I was genuinely amazed by the sheer variety. I even spotted *Nutrela Soya Chunks*, which are a fantastic plant-based protein source often used in comforting Indian curries and stir-fries – definitely on my list to try next time! They also had an incredible array of spices, fresh produce you might not find in regular supermarkets, and shelves stocked with ready-to-eat treats and *millets*-based products for healthier options. For anyone looking to recreate Indian dishes at home, a market like Patel Brothers is your ultimate resource. Make sure to explore their frozen aisle for convenient items like parathas or samosas, and don't forget to check out the fresh sweets counter – a little indulgence is always a good idea! While my specific experience was in Cary, I know many of you might be looking for similar authentic Indian experiences in your own areas. Whether you're searching for 'Haveli Indian Cuisine,' a 'Saffron Indian Cuisine' in 'Kingston,' or a 'Patel Brothers' in 'Tempe,' my best advice is to embrace the local search. Look for family-run businesses, check online reviews for specific dish recommendations, and don't be afraid to ask for local favorites. Often, the best Indian restaurants and markets are community hubs, offering a true taste of India, no matter where you are. These places do more than just sell food; they offer a cultural experience, bringing vibrant flavors and aromas right to your neighborhood.
