📶🌐 How to Share WiFi with Homes and Other Buildings Up to 1 km Away Using STAR
Let’s break it down with this simple diagram 👇
We have 4 houses and one central location.
In this example, we’re using two STAR kit setups:
✨ STAR-4 kit
🏠 For indoor WiFi only, perfect for residents inside the home.
✨ STAR-6 kit
📡 For outdoor WiFi from the central location and for homes with line of sight.
Here’s how it works:
✅ Each house has a STAR-4 kit installed with a CPE + wireless router to receive the signal from the central location.
✅ The central location has a STAR-6 kit with a wireless access point + GIS-R4 controller, connected to an internet source such as Starlink, a WiFi router, fiber, or another connection.
✅ This setup allows you to share internet with homes within a 1 km radius from the central location.
💡 When we say 1 km, we mean within a 1 km radius, not across an entire 1 km stretch.
📍 In other words, the homes must be located around the central point and still have a clear path for the signal.
💳 The central location is where WiFi vouchers are generated and sold to the homes receiving the signal.
🔑 House 1 and House 4 can receive the service, and the same code can be shared among the residents of each house. For example, if 5 people live in one house, they can all use the same code.
⚠️ House 2 and House 3 cannot receive WiFi in this setup because obstacles like trees and buildings block the signal.
🚫 If there is no clear line of sight, the STAR-4 kit cannot be installed successfully.
💡 The STAR kits come pre-configured, so you don’t need to set them up from scratch.
You only need to personalize the GIS-R4 with your business details and voucher settings, including the speed limits for each house.
This is a simple and effective way to sell WiFi to homes using STAR kits. 📲💰
