Let’s talk about lung health 🫁

I am extremely mindful when it comes to a clean space. Not only does a clean space = a calm & clear mind, I have 2 ferrets and if I don’t lightly clean basically everyday, our space isn’t a happy one for any of us! When I tell you I’m always shocked at how much gross stuff comes out of the air around me and how it literally would be going into my lungs!🫨 not only does it keep us all healthy, but it traps pet and human hair as well as dust so my space is automatically much cleaner and much easier to clean! I use an air purifier in every room I spend alot of time in, drink muellein extract, teas and eat well!

... Read moreHey fellow wellness seekers! Following up on my last post about keeping our lungs happy, I wanted to dive even deeper into some practical steps I've taken that have made a world of difference for me. It's not just about what we breathe, but also what we consume, and how we actively support these vital organs. I often think about how hard our lungs work, tirelessly removing carbon dioxide and bringing in life-giving oxygen, and that inspires me to give them the best care possible! You know how obsessed I am with my air purifiers, especially with my ferrets running around! It’s truly shocking to see what they collect. I remember pulling out a filter after just a month, and it was heavily dust-laden – not just dust, but pet dander, pollen, and all sorts of microscopic particles that would otherwise end up in my respiratory system. It really hit home when I learned that indoor air can actually be more polluted than outdoor air due to trapped pollutants, cleaning products, and even off-gassing from furniture. That's why I swear by air purifiers with *HEPA filters*; they're designed to catch those tiny particles, making a noticeable difference in the air quality of my home. My space feels cleaner, and honestly, my breathing feels clearer too. Beyond clean air, I've found incredible solace in certain herbs. As I mentioned, mullein leaf extract is a staple for me. It's truly amazing for loosening mucus and soothing irritation in the respiratory tract. I usually take it as an extract, but mullein tea is also wonderful. Another one I’ve recently added to my routine, thanks to a friend's recommendation, is *peppermint tea*. It's not just refreshing; it acts as a natural decongestant and helps *soothe respiratory muscles*. Whenever I feel a bit congested or my chest feels tight, a warm cup of peppermint tea brings such quick relief. It’s a simple, natural way to give my lungs a little extra love, working towards true lung repair. And let's not forget the power of food! Our diet plays such a huge role in overall health, and especially for our lungs. I’ve made a conscious effort to incorporate foods known to *support lung health*. My grocery cart is always full of fatty fish like salmon, which are rich in omega-3s, helping to reduce inflammation. Leafy greens like spinach and kale are packed with antioxidants, fighting off free radical damage. And berries – oh, how I love berries! Blueberries, strawberries, raspberries are bursting with antioxidants and vitamins that protect lung tissue. These aren't just 'organ foods' in a general sense, but specific powerhouses for our respiratory system. I also make sure to include plenty of other fruits and vegetables, aiming for a rainbow on my plate every day. It’s all about giving our bodies the nutrients they need to heal and protect themselves. Taking these steps – from ensuring clean air with my purifiers to nourishing my body with specific herbs and foods – has truly transformed how I feel. It's a holistic approach that helps me breathe easier, feel more energized, and ultimately, live a healthier, more vibrant life. I hope my personal journey inspires you to explore what works best for your lung health too!

Mullien leaf is a game changer. It’s also in yogi throat coat tea!
