Learned How to Microneedle the Correct way
⸻
I had the most amazing microneedling treatment at Le Mar Aesthetics in Miami this past Friday—and of course, I had to bring you along for the glow-up!
I put together a short video with clips from the experience. If you’ve ever been curious about what microneedling actually looks and feels like, you’ll definitely want to check this out.
Microneedling has so many natural benefits for the skin. It helps boost collagen, reduce the appearance of fine lines and acne scars, improve skin texture, and even out tone—without the use of harsh chemicals. When done properly, it activates your skin’s own healing response in the most beautiful way.
What made this treatment extra special is that my girl who did it also took the time to teach me the proper technique. Now I feel confident doing it at home with the right tools—starting with the best pen for safe, effective at-home microneedling.
If you want to know what microneedling pen I personally use and recommend, you can find it in my TikTok shop. Just search for High Vibe Beth on TikTok and you’ll see my shop linked right on my profile.
That said, I truly believe it’s essential to go to a professional at least once or twice before trying microneedling on your own. This is your skin, your face—you want to treat it with care. There are so many people using the wrong pens, applying the wrong pressure, or following unsafe advice from online videos. It’s not their fault—they simply haven’t had the experience done to them professionally.
Feeling it done the right way makes all the difference. My girl at Le Mar Aesthetics showed me exactly how it should feel, what to watch for, and how to care for your skin before and after. Without that experience, it’s easy to cause damage. Technique matters, and proper tools matter even more.
This is all part of my journey of clean, high vibe beauty—and I’m so excited to continue sharing the treatments, tools, and rituals that actually work.
Glow with me, learn, and let’s elevate our skincare the high vibe way.
Please like, share and follow for more. It is such an honor to have you here. 💐👑
Hey glow-getters! Building on my recent microneedling experience, I wanted to dive deeper into what it really means to microneedle the correct way, especially if you're curious about trying it at home. It's such a game-changer for skin, but proper execution is absolutely key! So, you're probably asking, 'What's the actual microneedling process like?' Let me tell you about the steps involved, both from a professional perspective and what to consider for safe at-home practice. Understanding the Microneedling Process & Steps: Preparation is Prime: Whether you're at a clinic or doing it yourself, clean skin is non-negotiable. Professionals typically cleanse thoroughly and might apply a numbing cream. At home, ensure your skin is perfectly clean and free of makeup. This step prevents bacteria from being pushed deeper into your skin. The Treatment Itself: This is where the magic (and tiny needles!) happens. A microneedling pen uses sterile, disposable needle cartridges to create microscopic channels in the skin. These micro-injuries signal your body to produce more collagen and elastin—the building blocks of firm, youthful skin. For the Face: When using a pen, the technique involves making straight passes over small sections of your face, avoiding dragging the device. You typically work in quadrants (forehead, cheeks, chin, nose). Professionals use specific patterns to ensure even coverage. For at-home use, always start with the shallowest depth (e.g., 0.25mm to 0.5mm) and apply very light, consistent pressure. You should see a slight pinkness, not bleeding, for home treatments. Crucial Aftercare: Post-treatment, your skin will likely be sensitive and red, similar to a mild sunburn. This is normal! The key is to apply gentle, hydrating serums—think hyaluronic acid—and avoid anything harsh like retinoids, Vitamin C, or exfoliating acids for at least 24-48 hours. Sun protection is HUGE; your skin is more vulnerable to UV damage. How Do Microneedling Pens Work & Choosing the Best One? Microneedling pens are essentially handheld devices with a motor that rapidly oscillates a cartridge of fine, sterile needles. This allows for controlled, vertical punctures into the skin at adjustable depths. This is generally preferred over dermarollers for at-home use because pens create cleaner, more precise micro-channels, reducing the risk of tearing the skin. When looking for a microneedling pen for home use, focus on these best practices: Sterile, Disposable Cartridges: This is non-negotiable for hygiene and safety. Adjustable Needle Depth: This allows you to customize the treatment for different areas of your face (e.g., thinner skin around eyes vs. thicker skin on the forehead). Reputable Brand: Do your research! Look for pens with good reviews and clear instructions. Avoid cheap, unbranded devices that might not meet safety standards. My Best Practices for At-Home Microneedling: Hygiene, Hygiene, Hygiene: Always use a new, sterile needle cartridge for each session. Disinfect your pen thoroughly before and after use according to manufacturer instructions. Start Small, Go Slow: Begin with the shallowest needle depth and treat a small area first to see how your skin reacts. Don't rush! Listen to Your Skin: If you feel excessive pain or discomfort, stop. Microneedling should be tolerable, not agonizing. Frequency: For home use with shallow depths (0.25mm-0.5mm), you can typically do it every 2-4 weeks, but don't overdo it. Give your skin time to heal and rebuild. Post-Treatment Care: As mentioned, gentle hydration and strict sun protection are paramount to prevent complications and maximize results. While learning from a professional is invaluable—it taught me so much about the proper technique and what to expect—understanding these steps and best practices can help you approach at-home microneedling with confidence and safety. Remember, your skin is precious, so treat it with the care it deserves!
