The Yarn VS what I made 🎃

I love turning a simple granny square into something special 🧡but I wanted to show you something I was working on over the weekend a sunburst Halloween edition 🧡🖤 I think this would be a fun bag for trick or treating, what would you use this bag for?

*Supplies*

- Scissors

- Crochet Hook size G (4.25)

- Peaches and Cream Bright Orange

-Peaches and Cream Forrest Green

- Red Heart Super Saver Pumpkin

- black felt

-fabric glue

**Crochet guide**

- CH ( chain)

-SL ST ( slip stitch)

- DC ( double crochet)

- TRB ( treble crochet)

-HDC ( half double crochet)

Steps:

1. Chain 4

2. Join with first chain using a SL ST you will be working into the circle

3. CH 3 then DC 16 into circle

4. Join to top of first CH with a SL ST

5. ( Puff stitch) attach next color

6. CH 2 ( pull tall for puff)

7. YO pull up a loop x3, you’ll have 7 loops on your hook YO and pull thru all 7 loops then CH 1

8. Repeat step 7 until you have 16 puffs

9. Attach next color and CH 2

10. 4 DC clusters YO and pull thru all 5 loops then chain 2

11. Repeat step 10 till you have 16

12. Attach next color then CH 4

13. 3 TRB crochet

14. 3 DC

15. 3 HDC

16. Repeat step 13-15 until done

17. One full row of a granny square

To add the bag together i followed a guide I saw on Pinterest ( if you need it let me know and I’ll send it your way) ☺️

Then to add the strap I did three SC along the top of the bag, chained 80 then attached to the other side

Add the face on using fabric glue

And you are done!

... Read moreHi fellow crafters! It's so exciting to share another one of my favorite crochet projects. There’s something truly magical about watching a simple skein of yarn transform into something you can use and cherish, especially when it’s for a fun occasion like Halloween! I especially love that satisfying moment when you join your crocheted granny squares together and see your vision come to life. For this Halloween pumpkin bag, I opted for a classic autumnal palette with bright orange yarn and a touch of green skein for the strap, but don't feel limited! If you're looking for different yarn options, consider sturdy acrylics or cotton blends for a bag that will hold up to trick-or-treating adventures. Brands like Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton or Lily Sugar'n Cream (similar to Peaches & Cream I used) offer great durability and a wide range of colors. You could even explore shades of deep purple, lime green, or a rich burgundy to give your pumpkin a unique twist. Don't be afraid to experiment with different textures too; a slightly heathered yarn can add wonderful depth to your squares. Now, let's talk about making those granny squares truly shine. While the pattern provides a fantastic foundation, a few extra tips can really 'beautify' your finished product. Consistency is key in crochet, so try to maintain even tension throughout your stitches. If your squares are coming out a bit wavy or uneven, don't worry! A process called 'blocking' can work wonders. Simply dampen your finished squares, gently shape them, and pin them to a foam board or mat until dry. This gives them a crisp, uniform look that makes joining them a breeze. When joining your orange and yellow granny squares, experiment with different techniques beyond the basic slip stitch. A single crochet join creates a lovely textured ridge, while an invisible seam join can make your squares appear almost seamlessly connected. Each method offers a different aesthetic, allowing you to personalize your crocheted bag. Once your pumpkin-like shape starts to emerge, the fun of customization truly begins! While I chose simple black felt cutouts for my pumpkin face, imagine the possibilities: mischievous eyes, a friendly grin, or even a spooky silhouette. You could also embroider the details directly onto the bag for a more permanent design. Consider adding a fabric lining to your bag for extra durability and to prevent small candy pieces from slipping through stitches. A cute Halloween-themed fabric would be a perfect addition! For the strap, playing with different widths or even adding a braided element could give your bag an extra special touch. You could even create a short handle for a tote style or a longer cross-body strap for hands-free trick-or-treating. Crafting should be a joyful journey, and I hope these tips inspire you to make your Halloween pumpkin bag truly your own. Whether you're making it for yourself, a little ghoulish trick-or-treater, or as a festive decoration, the handmade touch makes it so much more special. Happy crocheting, and don't forget to share your amazing creations with us!
