*Realistic* 7 month Skincare Progress- part 3

What did I learn from this?

1: GET A WATER FILTER. If nothing you do for your skin/hair works, your city water may be damaging your skin barrier (chlorine, hard metals, etc.). Use it for your hair and face. You’re welcome ✨.

2: Don’t ignore a damaged skin barrier. Dark spots caused by poor barrier health take longer to heal. Protect and hydrate first!

3: Be patient when introducing new products. Have some stuff you’re trying? Introduce 1-2 at a time and monitor your skin.

4: take progress photos and be grateful for your skin in the present.

5: find a schedule that works for you. I for instance cannot use tretinoin every single night anymore. I used to, but can’t anymore, so I figured out a new rotation that works for me! Protects my barrier while promoting cell regeneration.

6: prevention is key. If your routine helps prevent acne and dark spots, you’re better off! Listen to your skin and do your best to prevent long term damage with tyrosinase inhibitors and brightening ingredients.

7: don’t be discouraged by setbacks. If something new isn’t working, don’t be afraid to go back to a routine that works and try again!

Skincare is tough for acne prone people, especially if you’re prone to hyperpigmentation like myself. Don’t give up! Keep showing up as your full self in your natural state and your body will thank you🩵

... Read moreNavigating the complexities of skincare can be overwhelming, especially for individuals with acne-prone skin or hyperpigmentation issues. Understanding the impact of environmental factors like water quality is crucial; investing in a water filter can significantly enhance your skin health. It’s also essential to recognize the importance of a damaged skin barrier and the prolonged healing time associated with dark spots. Introducing new products should be a gradual process; introducing just one or two at a time allows you to monitor your skin's response effectively. Recording your progress through photos can encourage a positive perspective on your journey. Adapting your skincare routine is equally important, as what worked before may not suit your skin's current needs. Consistency and prevention are key in your regimen—incorporating tyrosinase inhibitors can help in preventing future dark spots. Lastly, remain resilient in the face of setbacks. Skincare is a personal journey that requires patience and understanding, and it’s important not to get discouraged if things don’t go as planned. Stay attuned to your skin's needs and celebrate every step of progress you make!
