Twilight of Embers is a fated mates, why choose, dragon-shifter romance between Hayden, Knox, Easton, Maddox, Cael, and Cillian.
Hayden is so relatable as she tries to navigate life as a college student while also suddenly being thrust into this other new world of dragon shifters. She’s very confused as to why she feels these intense feelings for all five men, while also trying to figure out why certain things keep happening to her, and eventually she learns that she too is a dragon shifter. I like that despite these intense feelings she has early in for the guys, she doesn’t just go with it, she’s actually really hesitant at first and puts up all her boundaries to protect her heart, and I can’t say I wouldn’t do the same. I also really loved that she’s dealing with issues like self-doubt. Like Hayden, I too struggle with self-doubt, and a lot of times feel as if no one would notice if I just disappeared one day. I loved seeing her slowly heal from her past and embrace her own strength and independence the more the story went on.
Knox, Easton, Maddox, Cael, and Cillian are all so obsessed with Hayden, and I freaking loved it! Even when some of them are fighting their feelings for her, they can’t help but feel possessive in the best way whenever someone tries to make Hayden feel uncomfortable or that she doesn’t belong. Their senses allow them to be so attuned to each other’s feelings, including Hayden’s, and I loved the bond they have where there’s no question that they have each other’s backs no matter what. There’s a true sense of family amongst these five men that I found so endearing. Even when they have their fights, it feels more like a family argument than anything else. They really did their best to work together as a unit, and it shows when they always managed to come together to help each other and Hayden, no matter what.
This was a fantastic start to the series, and I’ll definitely be continuing on with these books in the future💕
