how to stay MOTIVATED while doing Homework!!

Here’s FIVE tips i would give for someone who needs help with being motivated to study or continue to work on homework!!

1. Clean up! 🧽

this seams weird, but tidying up helps me out A LOT before I have to start studying or do homework. It makes me focused and motivated to conquering tasks like a bunch of homework!

2. Get something to drink! 🥤

I always get some water to keep me hydrated so I can stay on task and not get thirsty and have to ruin the routine I had!

3. Don’t pressure yourself, take breaks! 🌲

You should always take a few breaks to keep some healthy balance between doing homework and being productive. I always get a snack during this time and watch some tiktok’s or go take a bathroom breaks. Keeping yourself motivated is what we need! Don’t give up!

4. Play music! 🎵

I love playing instrumental music or music i’ve never heard of before. If i know the songs i always get too into it and focus more on the music than the homework im doing 😂

5. SILENCE your PHONE!! 📞

Keeping your phone silence and at a good distance like behind you or charging somewhere is a great way to keep yourself motivated. If you’re like myself, you get distracted easily just by even seeing something pop up for a quick second. Keeping my phone on do not disturb really helps. And don’t worry, tiktok will still be there to scroll through after you’re done! 😂

... Read moreOkay, so you've seen my go-to tips for getting motivated, but sometimes it feels like you need a little extra push, right? Especially when that "Intermediate Algebra" homework is staring at you, or you have a huge project due. I totally get it! Here are a few more things I’ve found super helpful, especially when I'm really dragging my feet. First off, let's talk about breaking down big tasks. Sometimes, the sheer size of an assignment is what kills my motivation. When I see a massive essay or a long list of math problems (like that algebra assignment!), it feels impossible to start. What I do is break it down into tiny, manageable chunks. Instead of "Do homework," I'll write "Read first chapter," then "Outline essay intro," or "Solve 5 algebra problems." Each little win builds momentum. You can even use your notebook to section off tasks, checking them off as you go. It’s amazing how much more motivated I feel when I know I just need to focus on one small step at a time! Another thing that really helps me is to set a small, achievable reward. Not every time, but for those really tough assignments, having something to look forward to can be a game-changer. It could be watching one episode of my favorite show, having a special snack I love, or even just 15 minutes of scrolling TikTok *guilt-free*. The key is to make it proportionate to the task and only allow yourself to have it after you've completed that specific chunk of work. It’s like tricking my brain into being excited about the work itself! I also find that changing my study environment can totally refresh my perspective. While a clean desk setup is crucial (as I mentioned before, with my laptop, notebook, calculator, and pen holder all neatly arranged), sometimes just moving to a different room, a coffee shop, or even just turning my desk chair around can make a difference. A change of scenery can break the monotony and make the task feel less daunting. If you're always studying in the same spot, your brain might associate it with stress or boredom. Switch it up! And here’s a big one for college students: find an accountability buddy! Whether it's a friend from class or someone who also needs to get work done, just knowing someone else is expecting you to be productive can be a huge motivator. We don't even have to be working on the same thing. Sometimes we just quietly work side-by-side on a video call, or we text each other our goals for the next hour. It’s not about pressuring each other, but more about having that shared commitment. Knowing someone else is also putting in the effort makes me feel less alone in the struggle. Finally, don't underestimate the power of starting with the hardest thing first. This sounds counterintuitive for motivation, right? But for me, if I tackle the most challenging part of my homework when my brain is freshest, the rest of the assignment feels like a breeze. Those tedious, easier tasks become my reward after conquering the big hurdle. It prevents that looming feeling of dread that can stop you from even beginning. So, if you have that tough algebra problem, grab your calculator and pen holder, and just try to get the first step done. Remember, everyone struggles with motivation sometimes. The goal isn't to be a robot, but to find strategies that work for you to push through those moments. Keep experimenting with different approaches, and don't be afraid to adjust your routine until you find your perfect study rhythm! You got this!
