Chernabog holds a very special place in my spooky heart.
When I was 10, my grandmother moved in with my family. Before that, I only saw her twice a year since she lived in Illinois, and I am in Florida. Just one month after she moved in, she was diagnosed with cancer and given less than a year to live.
Those years we did get together were everything. I spent hours with her talking, laughing, crying, truly getting to know her in a way I never had before. One of our favorite things to do was watch Fantasia… but only one segment: Night on Bald Mountain. Chernabog was her favorite villain.
So when my mom gave me this for Christmas, I was completely overjoyed. It instantly took me back to sitting in that room with her, sharing something that was ours.
Grandma Deanna lived four years after her diagnosis, and I’m forever grateful for every single moment of that time. Now, every time I look at this, I’ll think of her 🖤
