9 months postpartum | postpartum fitness journey

9 months of hard work growing a baby, so here’s 9 months of rebuilding my body.

Our bodies stretch, expand, and sacrifice so much during pregnancy. I always give myself at least a year postpartum to start feeling like myself again.

**It’s never been about “bouncing back.”**

My postpartum fitness journey is about honoring my body, rehabbing my core, reconnecting with my strength, and rebuilding into something more. There’s no going back. It’s always moving forward.

Postpartum recovery takes time. There’s no magic pill.

I’m still healing diastasis recti, still rebuilding my pelvic floor.

Some days I have energy for a full workout. Other days? I’m exhausted after sleepless nights with a 9-month-old who’s up 4-10 times, so I choose rest. Some weeks I get 5 workout days in. Other weeks it’s 10-15 minute home workouts because moving my body, even for a few minutes, is better than nothing.

Every postpartum workout counts. There’s no such thing as wasted movement.

Your postpartum body is incredible. It’s never too late to heal, rebuild, and get stronger after baby.

You deserve to invest in yourself as a mom, however that looks for you.

For me, it’s postpartum exercise because I feel my best when I move my body and have a clear mind.

Celebrate where you are right now. Your body is badass exactly as it is.

... Read moreEmbarking on a postpartum fitness journey can feel overwhelming, but it’s important to remember that healing and rebuilding your body after pregnancy is a unique process for each woman. The concept of “bouncing back” often puts undue pressure on mothers, suggesting that they must return to their pre-pregnancy selves quickly. Instead, focusing on gradual progress that honors the body’s changes is essential. During pregnancy, the body undergoes incredible transformations — muscles stretch, ligaments loosen, and the core weakens. One common postpartum challenge is diastasis recti, or the separation of the abdominal muscles, which requires careful rehabilitation exercises to heal properly. Strengthening the pelvic floor is equally important, as it supports bladder control and overall core stability. Incorporating gentle, consistent movement is more beneficial than intense or sporadic workouts. Even 10-15 minute home workouts contribute to rebuilding strength and improving energy levels. Listening to your body, resting when needed — especially during sleepless nights with a newborn — and celebrating every small victory are key to sustainable postpartum recovery. Using tools such as specialized postpartum workout apps can provide structure, motivation, and exercises tailored to your needs. These resources often offer modifications for different fitness levels and include guidance for safe progression. Remember, your postpartum body is remarkable and resilient. Every step you take in your fitness journey, no matter how small, is a testament to your strength and dedication. Celebrate your body’s capabilities and honor the incredible changes it has undergone. Investing time and care into yourself not only improves physical well-being but also helps maintain mental clarity and emotional balance during the transformative motherhood journey.
