skyrim followers are annoying 😅
I hate whatever it is in their programming that makes the stand in doorways 😩#skyrim
Okay, seriously, who else feels my pain when it comes to Skyrim followers and 'crowd control'? It's not just about managing enemies; sometimes, the biggest challenge is your own darn companion! I swear, they have a magnetic attraction to the exact center of every doorway, especially when you're trying to escape a horde of Draugr or just, you know, walk into the Bannered Mare. I've lost count of how many times I've been stuck in some cramped dungeon, desperately trying to get past Lydia, only for her to stand there like a statue. Or, even worse, when you're trying to make a quick getaway from a tough fight, and she's gracefully blocking the only exit. It drives me absolutely bonkers! So, after countless hours of trial and error (and a lot of frustrated sighing), I've picked up a few personal 'crowd control' tactics for these digital roadblocks. First off, the simplest trick is often the 'wait' command. Before you enter a particularly narrow corridor or a room with a crucial exit, tell your follower to wait just outside. You can clear the path, grab what you need, and then call them to you. It's not perfect, as they sometimes teleport right back into your way, but it's a good starting point. Another common scenario is getting blocked after a fight. You're loaded down with loot, and there they are, right in your face. My go-to here is usually just sprinting into them. Sometimes, a quick sprint will jostle them enough to move an inch or two, letting you squeeze by. It's not elegant, but it works! If that fails, a quick save and reload often repositions them slightly, or you can even try fast-traveling to a nearby point and coming back. It’s annoying to do, but sometimes necessary. What about when you're trying to navigate specific locations? I remember once trying to break out of Falkreath Jail – talk about tight spaces! My follower kept getting in the way, making it impossible to sneak past guards. That's when I learned to really utilize the 'wait' command. Tell them to chill in a corner while you scout ahead. Similarly, in places like the Falkreath Barracks, where there are often multiple NPCs moving around, having a follower who doesn't understand personal space can be a nightmare. Positioning them carefully before you engage or loot is key. And for those truly desperate moments, when your follower is absolutely glued to the doorway and you just cannot pass? If you're a melee character, sometimes swinging a weapon (carefully, don't hit them too much!) can nudge them. Or, if you're a mage, a small, non-damaging spell like a healing spell targeted at the ground near them can sometimes make them shift. It's all about those tiny, subtle movements. Ultimately, while Skyrim followers can be a massive help in combat, their pathfinding can be a source of endless frustration. But with a bit of strategic waiting, sprinting, and sometimes a desperate reload, you can regain control of your personal space and keep your adventures (mostly) bottleneck-free! What are your favorite tricks for dealing with these walking doorstops?

At least if you use J’zargo he has the decency to try to move😂😂
