I know it’s a big debate in the beauty community: does setting spray even work? For me personally, I totally think it makes a difference in the appearance and longevity of my makeup looks (but I could be making that up in my head)! 🥴
After all the hype on TikTok, I decided to try out the L’Oreal Infallible 3-Second Mist Setting Spray. I definitely had my hopes high because it was ALLLLL over my fyp! For comparison, my favorite setting spray is the Urban Decay All-Nighter.
This setting spray is…interesting. Coming out of the can, it very much appears and smells like hairspray. Putting it on my face it also FELT like hairspray. Something about the texture is almost sticky, but it dries down quickly once applied. After application, I found that my face felt really stiff? I couldn’t really move my face without noticing the product. As for lasting power - it does the job, and it does it WELL! My makeup didn’t really budge (look posted in second pic!), and I felt that I didn’t look too oily by the end of the day.
Overall, I would say if you like lighter setting sprays to definitely avoid this one. If you have an event where you want your making to look snatched, definitely pick up a bottle!

... Read moreSo, about that L'Oréal Infallible 3-Second Mist... many of you might be wondering if it's a 'normal' setting spray. And honestly, after trying it, I totally get why that question comes up! What even defines a 'normal' setting spray, anyway? For me, 'normal' usually means a fine mist that feels lightweight, sets makeup without stiffness, and maybe adds a bit of a natural finish, whether matte or dewy.
This L'Oréal spray, the one promising '6H TRANSFER DEFY' (which really caught my eye in the OCR!), definitely deviates from what I'd call a 'normal' feel. As I mentioned in my initial review, it has a distinct texture and scent right out of the can – almost reminiscent of hairspray. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it’s certainly different from the barely-there sensation of many other popular sprays. I've come to realize that this 'heavy-duty' feel is precisely what allows it to live up to its impressive transfer-defying claim, essentially creating a protective, long-lasting barrier over your makeup.
If you're accustomed to lighter mists, this one might require a slight adjustment in your application technique. My personal trick to minimize any stiffness or heavy feeling is to hold the can a bit further away than you normally would – maybe 10-12 inches from your face. Instead of just spraying in one concentrated area, I aim for a wider, even misting pattern, usually a 'T' shape across my forehead and nose, followed by an 'X' across my cheeks and chin. The key here is not to drench your face! A light, uniform application is crucial for achieving that incredible, long-lasting hold without feeling overly stiff or sticky. I also find that gently fanning my face immediately after spraying helps it dry down quicker and significantly reduces that initial tacky sensation.
For me, this setting spray truly shines when serious staying power is non-negotiable. Think those really long days, humid summer evenings, or special events like weddings or parties where you simply cannot afford for your makeup to budge. It creates an almost impermeable layer that locks everything in. However, if your daily routine involves very light makeup or you prefer an absolutely undetectable finish for just running errands, you might find this particular L'Oréal spray a bit much. In those scenarios, a lighter, perhaps more hydrating, mist might be your 'normal' go-to, offering a different balance of comfort and longevity.
So, is it 'normal'? Not in the traditional sense of a feather-light, undetectable mist you might forget you're wearing. But it is normally effective for extreme situations! It’s a true powerhouse for anyone who needs their makeup to stay perfectly in place for hours on end, especially if you can look past that initial, unique application experience. For those moments when you need ultimate confidence in your makeup's resilience, this L'Oréal Infallible 3-Second Mist could very well be your secret weapon, proving that 'different' can sometimes be exactly what you need.
Buy!!! Yes the scent is strong and it comes out with a lot of pressure and it’s sticky but once it dries which is a few seconds later then there’s no problem at all… I Live it because it doesn’t have my face looking oily and it’s inexpensive
