WHAT TO GET | Toddler Edition

When my daughter started brushing her teeth independently, I felt like I needed to upgrade from her old teeth brushing items that we had used since she was a baby.

It’s a simple and sweet set up that allows her to brush her teeth independently morning and night! I still help apply the toothpaste to her toothbrush because otherwise she’ll use the entire tube 😂 anyone else have to convince their child to not eat the toothpaste? Just me? Great 😅

ELECTRIC TOOTHBRUSH

I wanted to get an electric toothbrush because they get all the grime that my daughter may miss if she has a manual brush. She loves turning it on and off, and she loves the character theme. All we need to say is “let’s go use your ladybug toothbrush!” and she’s running upstairs to brush teeth with no hassle. Total win!

NATURAL TOOTHPASTE

I chose Tom’s of Maine toothpaste because of its natural ingredients. There’s no artificial flavors, and they also offer fluoride and fluoride free options.

MOM HACK: LIP BALM

My daughter has dry lips, especially in the winter. We apply lip balm daily so her lips stay moisturized. I found that keeping lip balm by her toothbrush helps us remember to apply it in the morning and at night. It’s perfect to apply right after brushing teeth because her lips still hold some moisture from the water, so once she applies lip balm they’re extra hydrated!

An electric toothbrush, like the themed options available, not only makes brushing more enjoyable but can also ensure a more thorough clean compared to manual brushing. Such brushes often feature fun characters, encouraging kids to look forward to brushing. Natural toothpaste brands, such as Tom's of Maine, are ideal as they avoid artificial ingredients and often come in both fluoride and fluoride-free varieties catering to parents with different preferences for their child's oral health. Additionally, consider using lip balms specifically formulated for kids, especially during the dry winter months to help combat chapped lips. It is also helpful to develop a routine where you keep products organized, perhaps placing lip balm next to the toothbrush, serving as a reminder for kids to use it after brushing. This not only nourishes their lips but also reinforces the habit of dental care. By incorporating these thoughtful selections into your child's routine, it can transform the sometimes challenging task of tooth brushing into a straightforward and enjoyable experience.
