Fort Tilden (Gateway National Recreation Area) at Far Rockaway feels like it’s far far away from nyc even though it’s not! It’s perfect for a beach day even though it is a bit of trek. I recommend getting there early in the morning and bringing some sandwiches and drinks to enjoy the full day.
