I don’t have friends who are there for me

I don’t have friends who are there for me. Not the kind who show up without needing a reason, not the kind who remember the hard days or text back before the moment passes.

I have people I used to know, threads of conversations that unraveled when I started canceling plans because work was too busy, I was moving away; then because I was pregnant, and again when the baby needed structure.

I scroll and see their lives; still golden, still loud, while mine is quieter now.

Not peaceful quiet. Just … quiet.

I love my son more than earth, but sometimes I crave a laugh that isn’t from Ms Rachel or Shrek, a hug that doesn’t come sticky hands and boogers smeared on my face, a day that isn’t full of conversations had in babbles and recognized phrases. I want someone to say, “come over, I made too much,” or “we can sit in the mess together.”

Even fire would feel kindled if it had company.

But it’s just me, learning how to be an adult, a wife, a mother, and mourn at the same time.#Lemon8Diary #unfiltered #momlife #facelessphoto #learningjourney

... Read moreThe transition into motherhood often brings a complex mix of joy and loneliness. As new responsibilities take precedence—caring for a newborn, managing a household, and juggling personal changes—many mothers experience the gradual drifting apart from friends and social circles. This shift can leave a sense of quiet isolation, especially when friends no longer keep in touch or understand the profound changes a mother undergoes. Loneliness during motherhood is a common emotional experience, intensified by the lack of adult conversation and moments of shared joy. Mothers crave authentic connection beyond children's playtime and digital interactions, yearning for invitations, shared meals, and companionship through life's messy realities. This need for social support is crucial for emotional well-being and resilience. Strategies to combat this isolation include reaching out intentionally to rebuild relationships, joining local parenting groups or online communities focused on #momlife and #learningjourney themes, where others share unfiltered experiences and offer support. Creating new routines that foster connection, such as regular meetups with other parents, can reignite the sense of belonging. Importantly, acknowledging and mourning this loss of previous friendships helps ease the emotional burden, validating the difficulty of these life transitions. Professionals suggest prioritizing self-care and mental health during this phase; therapy or counseling can offer valuable tools for managing feelings of grief and loneliness. Additionally, embracing imperfection and accepting the evolving nature of friendships can help mothers find peace in their new social landscape. Ultimately, while motherhood often redefines relationships, it also opens avenues to form meaningful bonds based on shared experiences and mutual understanding. Recognizing these changes and actively seeking supportive communities can transform feelings of quiet loneliness into empowered companionship and growth.

POV: girl who’s actually your BFF
Don’t we all wish we had a friend like this. The fact that she even went out of her way to call the other girl and try to clear things up. Then she respected Sarah’s wishes when she said it would make her uncomfortable to go to the party because she didn’t feel welcomed. And on top of all that,
