My fave MCAT study splurges

💸Things I don’t regret buying when preparing for the MCAT:

🎧 Noise Cancelling Headphones - Helpful for blocking out distractions when studying or taking a practice exam. I practiced with these so much that using the provided headphones at the testing center felt really comforting.

💓 Anki Remote - Totally worth the hype! Being able to be mobile while studying was the biggest win.

📓 Practice Questions - I prioritized AAMC material, but having a physical copy helped me when traveling/maintaining other commitments. I was able to do a few passages on lunch breaks and even a few while on vacation. Being unplugged every now and then and practicing without a computer screen was a plus.

🗒️ MCAT Notepad - Rounded out the practice exam experience. I tried to simulate test day as much as possible when practicing so that I had no surprises.

Top among these are noise-cancelling headphones that block distractions, ensuring you can focus intently on your studies. This investment pays off as it not only helps you concentrate while preparing but also makes you feel at ease during actual testing, using similar headphones. Additionally, mobile study solutions like the Anki Remote can revolutionize your approach to reviewing flashcards, allowing you to study hands-free—perfect for busy schedules. Prioritizing practice questions, particularly from AAMC, is essential; having physical copies supports studying on-the-go, whether during travel or short breaks. Lastly, an MCAT notepad provides an authentic test-taking experience, letting you simulate exam conditions to reduce anxiety. Aligning your preparation with these tools will contribute to greater confidence and improved performance on exam day.
