Did you know we were meant to chew food?

Your body was built to chew its food not drink its calories. If you’ve been living on shakes and wondering why you’re still hungry, tired, or bloated… this is why.

When I used to rely heavily on liquid shakes for convenience, I often felt hungry soon after, bloated, and sometimes sluggish. Over time, I realized that quickly drinking my calories didn't engage my digestive system properly. Chewing activates important digestive processes by signaling to the body that food is coming, which helps release digestive enzymes and hormones that regulate metabolism and satiety. This means you feel fuller longer and your body can better absorb nutrients. Interestingly, the jaw plays a key role in this process as part of your metabolism, which is something I had never considered before. Switching back to whole foods that require chewing made me more mindful during meals and helped curb overeating. I also noticed improvements in my energy levels and less digestive discomfort. Based on this experience, I encourage anyone relying too much on liquid meals or shakes to try incorporating more chewable foods into their diet. It’s a simple change with significant benefits for hunger control, digestion, and overall well-being.
