My ratings for bubble tea drinks

1. Caramel milk tea with pearl

📍: /KOI Thé @ Tampines

Price : $4.80

⭐ : 9 / 10

👍 : My all-time favorite milk tea flavor is caramel milk tea.

I usually order it with 50% sugar, but recently I’ve been cutting down on my sugar intake, so I now go for 25%.

It’s not as delicious as 50%, but it’s definitely healthier. I tried 0% sugar before, but it didn’t taste like caramel milk tea at all.

The pearls at this store are really chewy btw.

2. Iced bubble tea ( Snowcup)

⭐ : 5.5 / 10

👍 : It tastes like your neighborhood bubble tea — the price is quite reasonable for the taste and size.

However, it's a bit too sweet, and the sweetness can't be adjusted.

I missed this store so much; sadly, it closed down last year.

3. Iced bubble tea

📍: /Super Dream

⭐ : 5.5 / 10

👍 : The taste was just okay.

I saw the advertisement stating it only costs $2, so I decided to buy it.

However, the size was very small, and I couldn’t collect any stamps from this store since the drink was sold at a discounted price.

4. Iced bubble tea

📍: /Bubblecute

⭐ : 5.5 / 10

👍 : It tastes like your neighborhood bubble tea.

One of my favourite drinks from this store!

5. Iced milk tea

📍: /LiHO TEA @ Our Tampines Hub

⭐ : 5 / 10

👍 : Tastes just okay. Affordable for students as it only cost $2.20.

6. Iced milk tea

📍: /Gong Cha

⭐ : 5 / 10

👍 : Tastes just okay. Quite affordable for students as it only cost $2.50.

7. Pearl milk tea

📍: /iTEA - Pasir Ris MRT

⭐ : 4 / 10

👍 : It tastes like the milk tea from typical neighborhood bubble tea shops, but it's quite expensive for this kind of taste.

... Read moreIf you're a bubble tea lover like me, finding a great balance between taste, price, and quality can be tricky. I usually recommend trying each shop with their classic milk tea first to get a sense of their base flavor. For instance, KOI Thé’s caramel milk tea impressed me with its chewy pearls and customizable sugar levels, which is perfect if you're trying to reduce sugar but still want that rich flavor. Price-wise, many bubble tea shops offer affordable student-friendly options around $2 to $2.50, such as LiHO TEA and Gong Cha. However, keep in mind that discounted drinks may come in smaller sizes or without loyalty stamps, so if you’re a regular, consider the full price options to collect rewards. In my experience, sweetness is a crucial factor. Some shops don’t allow adjusting sweetness, which can make the drink too sweet for sugar-conscious individuals. I personally enjoy 25% sugar, which maintains flavor without overwhelming sweetness. When checking out new bubble tea brands, look for chewy pearls and freshness of the milk tea base. Neighborhood shops often give decent drinks at reasonable prices but tend to lack that unique signature flavor some larger chains strive for. It’s worth exploring various stores near you to find your personal favorite, as taste preferences widely vary. Lastly, don't forget to keep an eye on popular menus and reviews of brands like iTEA and Bubblecute for current deals and trending flavors—you might discover some hidden gems beyond the usual choices!
