There’s something so liberating about just letting your creativity flow onto the page, and for February, bubble letters have been my absolute go-to for adding that extra pop of joy and personality.
Creating bubble letters might seem a little intimidating at first, but trust me, it’s easier and more fun than you think! I usually start by writing out the word or phrase normally, and then I go back and draw a 'bubble' outline around each letter. You can make them plump, skinny, tall, or short – there are no rules! For a cool effect, try adding a second, slightly offset outline for a shadow, or fill them with different colors, like the vibrant red bubble letters for 'FEBRUARY' or the playful orange and blue ones for a 'why?' moment. Adding little dots or stripes inside can also make them pop even more, transforming a simple word into a mini-artwork.
For my February journal, I love using bubble letters for headings like 'Daily Reminders' or to highlight important thoughts and affirmations, such as 'LIVE WITH intent.' or 'Believe in yourself!'. They’re also fantastic for decorating spreads with seasonal words like 'LOVE' or even just to add a quirky touch to everyday entries. Imagine using them alongside a doodle of a coffee cup or a heart, really bringing your pages to life. The OCR recognized some 'ASAP' in red and green bubble letters, which just shows how versatile they are for any kind of message you want to emphasize quickly and playfully.
What I adore most about this style is how it connects to the 'creative, healing' aspect of journaling. It’s not about perfection; it’s about expressing myself authentically. Whether I’m documenting little moments, exploring emotions, or just doodling, bubble letters add a lighthearted, artistic flair that makes the whole process more enjoyable and less like a chore. It really helps to make my journal feel like my own unique, colorful space. Give it a try this February – you might just find your new favorite way to brighten up your pages!
