Idk how to face them, don’t even wanna go to work

Me and my roommates threw a party last weekend, and none of my friends came, even though they said they would. We planned it a month out, I bought decor, food, booze, spent all day cleaning. Invited 10 people (work and college friends), sent reminders, and they confirmed on Facebook. I told my roommates at least 5-10 of my crew’d be there.

When the party started, 9 of my roommates’ friends showed up but not a single one of mine. I waited 4 hours hoping they were late. Tried to mingle but by midnight I knew, they weren’t coming. Drank a few beers and barely held back tears.

They got reminders the day before and day of. Monday at work, no one mentioned it. I thought these people were my friends, I get lunch with coworkers most days, some even came over before. Has anyone had friends bail on their party like this? How’d you get over the embarrassment?

You seem to have a lot going on in your life on the down side. From friends not showing up to parties to the dislike of the engagement ring your “fiancé” proposed to you with. I’m not trying to be by any stretch of the imagination honest, but maybe in your struggle to steer things to the way you’d like it go is felt by others and acted on appropriately by them with no malice intended. You should talk to someone and see how something could be turned around through yourself and your friends and fiancé. Again, I’m not trying to possibly help a situation I know you aren’t happy with. I hope you don’t see this as ugliness but as potential helpfulness. I wish you well
