Palantir Shares Are Dropping. Am I Panicking?

Hi dear readers,

I am finally back from my sabbatical and getting used to the hustle as I went back to work straight after I came back. The first couple of days were tough getting used to the tempo of life, clearing emails, getting up to speed with work stuff and also adjusting back to the Singapore time zone.

The market performed extremely well over the period when I was overseas. And interestingly, it started to become very volatile when I came back lol. On hindsight maybe I should have extended my sabbatical 🤣 You will note from photo 2 that the fluctuation in my portfolio in the week of 18 Aug was greater compare to the other weeks and this is no thanks to the drop in pltr share price.

Pltr has dropped from a recent high of 190 to a local bottom at 142, which is around a 25% decline in a few days. Overall, my view is that there has no changes to the fundamentals and the sell off is mainly to short sellers releasing reports on pltr being severely overvalued.

So what I am doing? As per photo 3, I am sticking by my usual approach to add when there are severe drops in the share price so I added around 167 and 148 earlier this week, and it also helps to bring my pltr shareholdings to 1,188 which just happens to be a huat number LOL

Do note the above is just my personal views and does not constitute financial advice. Always do your own due diligence!

Overall with reference to photo 4, my portfolio is still outperforming the Nasdaq by around 45% till date which I am kinda satisfied. Photos 5 and 6 will show my current holdings in terms of both quantity and average entry prices. My holdings such as Sofi, Futu and Sea have recently reached new 52 week highs and I expect to continue moving upwards in the near future. Do take note there are some major earnings reports next week such as Nvidia which can affect the overall market sentiment..

On this note, I would also like to share that I will be starting to post financial content like this on Instagram. You can follow me @theborispawfolio if you find my content useful thus far and I aim to post more regularly there.

As usual, stay safe in the markets and may the huats be with you!

... Read moreManaging investments during share price drops like Palantir's recent decline takes patience and strategy. Beyond just looking at price charts and technical resistance levels, I’ve found tracking metrics like the P&L calendar and portfolio securities helps me stay grounded. For instance, my portfolio's strong outperformance relative to the Nasdaq (+45%) provides me confidence to add more shares when prices dip sharply. It's also important to consider external market factors — upcoming earnings reports such as Nvidia’s often sway overall sentiment and impact stocks broadly, including Palantir. Keeping an eye on the options chain and PE ratio helps me assess market expectations and valuation. Sharing from my own approach: I increased my Palantir holdings at prices around $167 and $148 recently, aiming to lower my average entry price and prepare for future rebounds. This method aligns with long-term conviction rather than short-term panic. If you’re navigating similar volatility, remember to conduct your own research, diversify holdings, and keep an eye on both technical support/resistance levels and broader macroeconomic cues. Following daily P&L trends and monitoring total securities in your portfolio can provide clearer insight into real performance beyond just price fluctuations. For those interested, financial content on managing such market dynamics will be shared regularly on my Instagram @theborispawfolio, where I discuss actionable tips and market observations.
