What’s a “normal” skincare routine?

Hi Lemon8 friends! 🍋👋🏻 today I wanted to chat about skincare, and I’m curious to hear from you all what your skincare routine is.

I’m trying to get a sense of what’s “normal” for a skincare routine! My feeds are full of influencers with shelves packed with products in pretty packaging, dermatologists that say either “only wash and use SPF!”, or some that go really in the weeds on preventive and anti-aging routines. I’ve asked my friends and their answers range SO widely from 1 product to dozens.

So I figured, let’s take a survey! To help get a better sense of what’s an “average” skincare routine, I’d love to hear what you all do every day! What I’d love to hear from you all is:

❓Do you have a different routine for AM versus PM?

❓How many steps / products are in your routine?

❓Do you alternate products (ie, using soap A some days, soap B some other days?)

❓How do you keep track of your routine, or do you just have it memorized?

❓How consistent are you with your routine (I always struggle with this part 🥴)

Thanks in advance for sharing! 🫶🏻

... Read moreSkincare routines can vary widely from person to person, creating confusion about what is considered 'normal.' Many individuals opt for minimalistic approaches focusing on essentials like cleansing and sunscreen. Others embrace extensive regimens packed with serums, toners, and masks targeting specific skin concerns such as acne, dryness, or aging. Understanding your skin type is crucial in forming an effective routine. For dry skin, hydrating elements like hyaluronic acid are beneficial, while oily skin may require oil-free moisturizers. Consistency is key in skincare — those with established routines often track progress by observing changes over time, whether through daily logs or using apps dedicated to skincare management. Many skincare enthusiasts find joy in experimenting with different formulations and treatment options influenced by social media trends. Don’t hesitate to join discussions and share experiences, as many find community feedback surprisingly enlightening. For beginners, a simple routine involving cleansing, moisturizing, and sun protection (AM) paired with a gentle cleanser and nighttime moisturizer (PM) can serve as a perfect starting point. As you venture into the world of skincare, always consult dermatologists or skincare experts for personalized advice, ensuring that your regimen aligns with your specific needs.

I have a different routine for morning and night. During the week I then add in extra skin care needs depending on what my face needs. Whether vitamin c, face scrub or deep cleansing. I also had a face mask here and there preferably on Sundays all depending on how I’m feeling or to start off a new week 🥰

I’m a firm believer in less is more. Don’t use products you think you need because other influencers are promoting them
