My No Spend Months Challenge! 💸✨

I’m super excited to share my No Spend Months Challenge! The green spacers are ✨NO SPEND✨ days, and the pink ones are when I can spend, but only on what’s listed. I do have a few exceptions since I have a baby in diapers, but the main goal is to pay off my smaller credit card. 💳

I got this amazing template from the Savvy Sagittarius, and it was free! I’m editing it in GoodNotes, and I have to say, I’m LOVING GoodNotes as a new user. It makes everything so easy and organized!

... Read moreOkay, so for everyone asking about the nitty-gritty of my No Spend Month Challenge – I totally get it! It’s one thing to see a pretty calendar, but another to actually do it. For me, the main goal is to pay off that pesky credit card, and honestly, to just hit pause on my spending habits. It's not about deprivation, but about intentionality and reducing unnecessary expenses. First off, setting your own 'no spend' rules is absolutely key. My calendar, which I'm tracking in GoodNotes, has green days where absolutely no money leaves my wallet for anything non-essential. Then there are pink days, which are for pre-planned, essential spending. For example, my essentials include groceries, gas, and obviously, diapers for the baby (a non-negotiable!). I also allowed myself a small budget for a birthday gift this month. What counts as essential is personal, but generally, it’s things you need to survive or maintain your responsibilities. Think rent, utilities, specific medical needs. What it's not is that extra coffee, impulse shopping trips, or takeout when you have food at home. This structure helps me avoid a 'no shopping month' turning into a total disaster! To really make the most of this challenge, planning is everything. I look at my no spend calendar at the start of each week. This helps me anticipate potential spending triggers. For instance, if I know I have a 'no spend' day coming up, I'll pack snacks and a water bottle if I'm leaving the house. I also make a detailed meal plan to ensure we use what we have and avoid last-minute grocery runs or ordering food. This makes a huge difference in how to make your money last a month! For those days where you're trying to figure out how to spend as little money as possible, get creative with free activities! The calendar mentions 'free activities' and it's so true. We've been exploring local parks, going to the library, having board game nights, or just enjoying quiet time at home. It really shows you don't need to spend to have fun. I'm also really focusing on reducing my spending habits by checking my subscriptions – do I really use all of them? And before I buy something, I ask myself: can I borrow it, mend it, or do without it? It’s amazing how much you can save just by taking a moment to think. One of my biggest motivators is seeing that credit card balance shrink. My goal is small, just $300, but imagine if you scaled this up? These principles are exactly how you could think about saving $2000 in 2 months or more significantly reducing your overall spending. The 'family date night reward' at the end of the month is also a great incentive. It gives us something to look forward to, something positive tied to our efforts. If you're wondering how to stop spending impulsively, having a clear no spend chart and clear rules is a fantastic starting point. It’s a journey, not a sprint, and every no-spend day is a win! You've got this!
