A Hard Truth
I’ve been reading Proverbs 3 & taking it verse by verse and this hit me hard even though this is a scripture I’ve heard almost all my life. In my Bible commentary reading the question posed was “Where or what do you run to when things go wrong ? And instantly I realized my trust and priorities aren’t correct so I’m admitting I run to everyone first and God last. It’s hard to admit but God has shown me there is beauty in honesty and that it’s not too late to start trusting him today.
The Hebrew word for trust means to lie down on—to put your entire weight on something. When you go to sleep at night, you lie down on your bed because you believe it is strong enough to hold you up. “With all your heart” means entirely, without exception. So in essence God says, “Trust me completely; I can sustain you. Your own understanding won’t support you.”
