I bought my first car without telling anyone.

Not even my mother. No family member beside me.

No friends giving advice. No one to reassure me.

I saw 4 different cars before settling on this. It was a love at first sight. 🫣 Just me, a salesperson, and a contract I was terrified to sign. I was young, completely clueless about cars, and this was the most expensive purchase I had ever made.

I spent nights wondering:

“What if I regret it?”

“What if I can’t afford it?”

“What if everyone thinks I’m crazy?”

But I did it anyway.

Two years later, I’ve sold this car and moved on to another one.

Looking back, the car wasn’t the achievement.

The achievement was believing in myself, trusting the process. Sometimes growth looks a lot like fear before it looks like success.

... Read moreBuying my first car completely on my own was more than just a financial decision—it was a huge step toward independence and self-reliance. I vividly remember the anxiety of signing the contract with only the salesperson present, and no one else around to guide or support me. This was a leap of faith, especially because, growing up, I was always cautious about savings and wary of spending on big-ticket items like cars. What helped me through those sleepless nights full of "what if" questions was focusing on what this car represented: an investment in my future and the hard work I was committed to. Paying close to $1,000 monthly for the car was a challenge compared to my previous transportation costs, but the freedom it gave me allowed me to expand my teaching reach to different parts of the city—places I couldn’t easily access before. I spent many weekends traveling to multiple locations to meet my students, sometimes even eating lunch in the car park while taking a break. The car wasn’t just a vehicle; it was a tool that enabled me to grow my business and pursue my passion with more flexibility. Looking back, I realize that this experience taught me valuable lessons about perseverance, managing fear, and trusting myself to make decisions. For anyone considering a big purchase or any bold step in life, my advice is to plan carefully, stay consistent, and believe in your efforts. Fear and doubt are natural, but growth often requires embracing that discomfort. Taking this brave step gave me confidence and motivation that have carried me through other entrepreneurial challenges as well. Ultimately, the journey is about more than owning a car—it’s about owning your choices and your growth.

👍👍👍 Now everyone is saving their $$$ for the next few sessions example (days, weeks, months and years) because you would not know when is the next fear like Covid and it’s raising again, so please look or listen to this advice is to save and spend $$$ wisely. You should have use your previous (family) car until to 7 or 9 years. Discuss with them before making any decisions of your own. Don’t spend it on this Mercedes-Benz C class as here in Singapore 🇸🇬 everything here is super expensive. Food, drinks, clothes and basic utilities are the necessities for daily spending is one of the wisest choice to spend it on.
