Mental Prison
There is no prison built from steel or stone that is more effective at containing a human being than the one built from thought. The walls you cannot see, the bars you cannot touch, the chains that exist nowhere in the physical world but bind you completely in the only world that ultimately matters — the world of your own mind. Mental chains are the worst kind of restraint because they are invisible to everyone including their wearer, because they tighten without drama or announcement, and because they are almost always self-forged — built link by link from repeated thoughts, absorbed fears, internalized criticisms, and the stories you have told yourself so many times that you have stopped noticing they are stories at all.
