My biggest tip, as mentioned, is to never over-buff your natural nail. That slight 'buffy buff' is just to remove shine, not layers of your nail plate. If your nails are already thin, be extra gentle during prep. Using a very fine-grit buffer or even just a dehydrator can be enough. Another key area is curing. If you feel a "burn" (that's the heat spike!), it means the gel is curing too fast or your nail plate is sensitive. Don't push through it! Cure for just 1-3 seconds, pull your hand out, let it cool, and repeat. This slow-curing method is a lifesaver for thin nails and prevents potential damage from excessive heat. Also, ensure your lamp isn't too strong or worn out, as inconsistent curing can also lead to issues. And finally, removal is paramount. Improper removal is the leading cause of Gel X damage. Never peel, pick, or forcefully pry off your Gel X nails! Always soak them off completely using acetone. File down the top layer of gel to break the seal, then soak cotton pads in acetone, place them on your nails, and wrap with foil. Give it ample time (15-20 minutes, or longer if needed). The Gel X should become soft and jelly-like, allowing you to gently push it off with an orange wood stick. Any remaining bits can be very gently buffed away.
