yall fighting consumption is so hard

when I see things that are okay I want them even if I don't need them with shein and Amazon and doordash it's so hard not to give in. But I try to remind myself I'm saving for something big. what do you guys do to not over consume from media to gaming and shopping apps?

2024/7/24 Edited to

... Read moreIn a world dominated by online shopping platforms like Shein and Amazon, along with convenience services such as DoorDash, many find it increasingly difficult to resist the urge to indulge in unnecessary purchases. Overconsumption can lead to financial strain and clutter in our lives, making it essential to adopt mindful consumption habits. One effective strategy is to set clear financial goals to prioritize your spending. For instance, envision what you are saving for, whether it's a vacation, a new gadget, or even a home. Visualizing your goals can reinforce your commitment to saving. Additionally, adopting a '30-day rule' can be beneficial; if you feel the impulse to buy something you don't need, wait for 30 days. This pause allows you to evaluate if the urge to purchase persists, often leading to a conclusion that you can live without the item. Engaging with communities that share similar values around conscious spending can also provide accountability and support. Using technology to your advantage can further aid in managing consumption. Budgeting apps can help track your spending while alerts can remind you when you’re nearing your spending limits. Lastly, consider replacing the habit of online shopping with alternative activities that bring satisfaction, such as learning a new skill or enjoying outdoor activities, which can help you feel fulfilled without the need for excessive consumption.
