From personal experience, I’ve realized that rushing into feelings or sharing every detail with friends too quickly can sometimes complicate things rather than help. For example, the idea of falling in love at first sight is often romanticized, but in reality, meaningful connections usually take time to build. It’s much healthier to approach new matches with curiosity and patience. Moreover, holding back from endlessly talking about every interaction with friends helped me maintain more balanced perspectives and avoid unnecessary pressure on new relationships. It’s okay to keep some moments private as you get to know someone better. Also, keeping a lighthearted attitude—like joking about dating app experiences or even embracing April Fools’ humor—can reduce stress and make the process more enjoyable. Remember, dating apps are tools for connecting, but genuine relationships grow from honest communication and mutual respect. Staying true to yourself and not feeling forced to follow social dating scripts has made my experiences more rewarding and authentic.
