Yo why are these things so expensive? I traded in my first car for a 2023 used Kia Sportage.
My first car was given to me by my mom. I paid her for the insurance which was $250/month. The car was paid off and did me very well.
Until recently, it’s had too many issues to keep up with. Honestly it cost more to fix it than what it’s worth.
It literally hurt so bad to even think about trading “Bessie” for a new car. I was so grateful for her and we’ve had her for 10 years. She was my baby.
But now I have an actual human baby and I felt so bad making him ride in the old car. The a/c kinda worked only sometimes, it’s been in so many accidents it resulted in a bunch of wear and tear, and then before I finally caved, the transmission started acting up AND my dad said it needed a tune up! After we just spent over $1200 to fix it!!
Anyway, Kia accepted it as a trade worth only $500 lol.
But now I have a nice new car with less than 8k miles, ac, a back up camera and more the Malibu never had!!

At 23, I found myself grappling with the decision to trade in my first car—a Chevrolet Malibu named Bessie—for something more practical. The Malibu served me well for a decade, but with a newborn and frequent issues like an unreliable air conditioning system and transmission troubles, it became clear that it was time for a change.
After all the money spent on repairs, it was disheartening to learn that the trade-in value was only $500. However, the excitement of driving off in a 2023 used Kia Sportage with less than 8,000 miles quickly overshadowed those feelings. The new car comes fully equipped with features I had always wanted: working air conditioning, a backup camera, and modern amenities that the Malibu lacked.
If you're considering a similar trade, think about what you need in a vehicle. Safety, reliability, and comfort are critical, especially for families. Researching models, comparing prices, and understanding the value of your trade is crucial in making a sound decision. Leasing options and financing plans can also provide flexibility. Remember, purchasing a car isn’t just about the financial aspect; it’s about selecting a vehicle that will serve you and your loved ones well for years to come.
Ommggg yes it was definitely worth the shortage, for some reason that is the best looking Kia there is no lie for a new modern design.
