Getting back to yourself after domestic violence

#letschat so I’ve been in and out of domestic violence situation since I was a child and my last relationship was pretty close to killing me. I wake up every single day with a constant reminder of everything that happened to me during that time. I try to move forward and deal with life but I’m completely overwhelmed with it all. From night terrors to PTSD to anxiety and depression it’s hard to even talk to people. How do you move forward and break through to be able to live again and not be in fear anymore? I really need help with this. Even my middle child is battling with ptsd so much right now. I just want to feel normal again. And be able to smile and mean it. Ya know? Let me know what you think I greatly appreciate any and all help. Thank you so very much! #domesticabusesurvivor #vulnerable #Lemon8 #ptsdawareness

... Read moreRecovering from domestic violence is a challenging journey that many survivors face. Trauma can lead to long-lasting effects such as PTSD, anxiety, and depression. To begin healing, it’s essential to acknowledge your feelings and seek professional help when needed. Therapy, support groups, and community resources can provide valuable assistance in processing past experiences. Engaging in self-care activities, such as mindfulness, exercise, and connecting with trusted friends and family, can help establish a sense of normalcy and safety. Creating a safety plan is vital to protect yourself and your children from lingering concerns about potential threats. Empowering yourself with knowledge about local resources, such as domestic violence shelters or hotlines, can provide vital support and guidance as you navigate this tough time. Remember, you are not alone in this journey; many others have walked a similar path. Sharing your story through forums, support groups, or even social media can foster a sense of community and understanding while reminding you that healing is possible.

I too am a childhood & adult domestic abuse survivor. I will be honest, while I am in a better place now, I still have recurring nightmares and PTSD sensitivities. The best advice I have is work every day to do things that'll make you fall back in love with YOU. Gaining self-acceptance & self-esteem have been big 4 me

Surviving Domestic Violence🖤
I know there are many women out here who are suffering in silence like I was in 2021. I was with a man for 3.5 years, never really paid the signs any attention, until the last 4 months of our relationship, when the physical abuse began. Prior to April 2021 (first time he hit me), there was a

This was back 2020-2023. Posting it to spread awareness, also because I’m so proud myself for removing myself from that situation. I was a victim of every abuse you can think of. Mentally, emotionally, verbally, and physically. But I survived, and I am now free. If you’re currently in a situation l

Survivor of Domestic Violence❤️
It breaks my heart how the abuser gets sympathy and support after being charged while the victim is left alone , picking up the pieces in silence. The world protects the loudest , not the wounded. 💔 It's just devasting how abusers go to jail & still get support money on their books, let

It’s not okay. It’s not discussed. It’s unbelievable and immediately questioned when it comes to men…why? #men #datingadvice101 #love #marriage #embracevulnerability

Not all scars are visible and some are carried deep within. Abuse doesn’t always leave bruises you can see, and it doesn’t have a certain “look” or gender. Today, we pause to pray for those carrying both seen and unseen scars…for the ones who sit in silence, smile through pain, or question their
